So u don't think it's lame that some Espada owner went to eBay to try to get the white espada seller to jack up his reserve price?? Yawn...
Does anyone have traces on Espada S1 #7344 or #7410. Both cars were delivered with Bianco exterior and Rosso interior. Its likely that one of them was repainted dark Brown in the seventies.
I picked up my car 14 days ago for it's first drive since it was covered to Manual. I also had the engine rebuilt .again, but that is a long sad expensive story. I had to drive my Khamsin down to the same garage for some work and then the Espada back up the next day. 375 miles each way! Not cheap on fuel I used the car the next day before going abroad for two weeks and just back. So total about 420 miles. I did not change the diff internals so the gearing is a bit higher than a standard manual, which I think suits the car. Additionally as I had the engine rebuilt and the garage had only done 100 miles in the car since, I was taking it fairly easy and varying the engine speed, so mainly, driving about 65-80mph on the way back and not revving about 4000rpm! My first impression was how light the clutch was. The other manual cars I recall had heavier pedals. The change is quite nice, although with a long throw, in particular between 1st and 5th. The box is s/h although the garage say it one of the sweetest they have used. Surprisingly so! I bought it one day about 4 years ago, when I saw it when I was down for other reasons. The auto was geared for 20mph/1000rpm, approx, and changed up very quickly, so in town you would be in 3rd by 30mph. The manual is quieter and the changes quicker than the auto on down chafes. It is a different car to drive. When the engine is run in, it will be fun to exploit it to 7500rpm in the lower gears and to see how fast the car will go! About 20 years ago i got the auto up to 150ish in a downhill stretch of motorway in Germany. I hope i can beat that! Anyway the plan is to drive to Cannes in April next year with my brother in law. In 1978 when we were young and even dafter than now, we drove from Glasgow to Cannes for a weekend to see my sister, his then girlfriend. 1300 miles and 25 hours each way non stop, in my 1.2 Alfa Romeo Alfasud. This time we will take our time and I won't be sleeping on a sofa. Somehow i think a detour over the Route Napoleon, via Grasse will happen! I have kept the auto box and all the other bits if any subsequent owner wants to convert it back, which should be quite simple! The main drawback? No space for my left foot due to the RHD and wider auto tunnel Paul Scotland UK
That was quite a job Paul. It does sound like you're going to be enjoying the car in new ways now. Congratulations on project. I suppose modifying the transmission tunnel would be an enormous task? Perhaps smaller feet instead?
LOL It is unusual in that the floor plan for the auto is unique to the auto! It would have been a large task to modify it further so we just left it as standard width, but with all the extra holes cut to accommodate the manual car. When I drive the Countach I always wear narrow almost race driver type shoes. May have to do the same for the Espada now! Paul
Dude just sale proofed the car. Sadly, this is another flipper who doesn't know the community. The condition is not worthy of that price.....at least not yet and not so quickly. NOW, that car is branded. Mostly likely will do a couple of rounds on ebay. Hopefully some enthusiast will be able to negotiate a fair price off line. Prices = too fast too soon is not a good thing imo.
I think there were very few actual bidders for that car north of $50K maybe one at $60K? The rest looks like an attempt to drive up the price and then hope some sucker buys it for those high numbers after the reserve wasn't met.
Bob, you know, I was wondering if the seller set up that Q&A about the values to give it the boost. Hmmmmmmmm
Hi Paul, beside your engine cost, by which whole budget range is the automatic conversion to manual ?
Maybe some would be interested in this tire post with Longstone in Espada section: http://www.**********************/vbforum/f39/tyres-31714/#post466937 lamb....talkdotcom
Hello everyone, I went to view espada chassis #8216, situated in Switzerland, and wondered if any of you happen to know this car ? Unfortunately it was snowing heavily went I went, so I wasn't able to get underneath it, nor take it out for a drive. I am going back on Monday to put it on the lift, do a compression test, and take it out for a drive. The car was repainted red at some point in its life (I believe it was originally blue), but other than that it seems to be in original condition and is complete, the leather has dried a bit, and the veneer is a little faded, but nothing alarming. Thank you all in advance for your help! J.
This is in the Espada section of eL talk, the post titled " what tires owners are using". I guess it's the guy from Longstone who posted and responds. But I was surprised how he came on very nonchalant and made a vague post without introducing himself. Kind of feeling out the members first.
I give up on trying to get through the Fchat filters lolol model specific discussion espada tires At this point, it'll be a nothing thing to read lol I answered that the Longstone and Coker XWX are a god awful rip off. And not the most stabile tire as I have experienced on my Urraco. Told him, You go to the Coker pager for our size and you see all the tires at a reasonable price. Then you get to the last tire, an XWX, and the price doubles to about $470. I told him, the poster, that there is no reason for it. Why is that tire any different to other vintage tire......except that " Lambo&Ferrari-guys-use-it-so-we-should-sell-for-a-lot-of-money." I may have been born at night, but not last night. My opinion, from almost 30yrs in the automotive business, it that these tires should sell for a lot less. I would even pay, maybe, $300....1200 for the set. But when you get to $2000 wtf. Tires are not worth that kind of money and certainly don't cost all that to produce relative to the asking price. Even the P7's that I just bought for my Countach is extremely expensive...even at my wholesale price BUT we really have no other choice. The kicker is I did not need them. BUT Pirelli has us by the balls and seem to produce them every 10-12 yrs. So, when they are made, you must buy them. He offers a discount which converts to $1730 for a set. What makes it sort of reasonable is that they also offer free shipping to the States. That about 100 less than Coker. Ok, that my Saturday morning rant. Should have gone to work this morning! Tire has always been a sore subject when it comes to Lambo....bring back the P4000!
An example of tinyurl this will help get difficult urls through Just don't abuse it as it TOO will get filtered
Hi Jeremy, did you finally inspect it ? I did it, as you mentionned its paint is medium average, interior is awfull because it was "verde scuro" repainted in black, leather is well cracked... and needs to be replaced ! Underneath, everything looks fine, but I didn't test it because the cosmetics weren't reaching my criterias and I didn't want to bore the Lambo fellow who is selling it (we know each other for a long time and shared a dinner in Italy at the Ferruccio's day 13th May) Cheers, Olivier
Is it still located at Rolf F. in Amriswil? Any Pictures except those of the ad? http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/d/lamborghini-coupe-occasion?index=6&make=43&nav=7&returnurl=%2fde%2fautos%2flamborghini%3fmake%3d43%26nav%3d7%26vehtyp%3d10%26yearto%3d1990%26r%3d5&vehid=1906575&vehtyp=10&yearto=1990
Hello, I was supposed to go tomorrow but the weather seems like it's going to be against me again, So I'm just waiting for a good day to go as it's a 7h drive back and forth in one day, and do all the checks on it. Yes the car is still there, sitting next to a dark blue S3 espada with American bumpers ! Olivier, thank you for that, I did not know the interior was originally verde scuro. That adds on to my list of to do's on it, but I guess if I cream it properly I can already make it look a bit better until I have it sorted out. Do you know what garage it was first delivered to, and what the actual original paint colour was ? My grand father had the Garage des nations, before starting autobritt and I will admit that if it was sold by him, I would be quite happy ! I have a few pics of it, but they are of the inside, and just paint imperfections as I was a bit limited for space to take proper pics. But I will happily take some good ones when I go back, and share them with all of you ! Now please correct me if I am wrong, but my impression is that If I can get the car with all the mechanicals sorted, and a 6 year veteran "visit", and then slowly with time return it to its original condition it isn't a bad deal...? On a positive note, it's an absolute pleasure dealing with them, and a refreshing alternative to the jungle of dishonest people out there ! Thank you. J.
