And rescue is the appropriate phrase here! Most likely you'll be rescuing more than the Espada ... ;>)) Bob S. (Espada owner)
Thanks for the compliment about the silver Espada UK reg FBY 460H, engine 40236.vin 7707,the restoration as been an epic taking 3 years and I started with a good well preserved car, I think it has been worth it as it is now probably the oldest RHD Espada on the road,I also own a 1968 Miura UK reg LAM 399 engine 1730.vin 3372, 400GT 2+2 UK reg LAM1 engine 1645.vin 01351 [all pictured together above] and my favorite car a 1976 Jarama S UK reg NHV 786P engine 10624.vin10624 [picture from LCUK 2009 calender] Stephen Keen Image Unavailable, Please Login
Gentlemen, what is an Espada like to drive? I have to assume it drive very smoothly due to it's elongated wheelbase, probably has plenty of get up and go, but she is no drag racer...she is a Grand Touring machine. Just curious.
Dear Stephen, Did not know you are "the man" himself , haha! Nice to meet you here, these classic threads are really great! Thanks for the information on your car's, it's always refreshing how open the British owners are. My friend Marcel de Lange, who unfortunatly passed away in october 2006, has visited Silverstone many times, and he was absolutely thrilled about the way the British feel and talk about Lamborghini's. It made him return many times, perhaps you have met him? Your silver Espada SI did not turn up in my files before. Do you know anything about the history of that car? Previous registered on other plates? I really do miss an Islero in your nice collection ;-) and #1120026...? Ciao! Marcel
Yes, not a go-kart but pretty stable on twisty roads, great sound when changing gears (that engine is a masterpiece!), fantastic to cruise in around 180 km/h when possible, of course the brakes are not with today's standards, and amazingly comfortable for a car with so little wheel travel. I try to drive mine as often as I can... Philippe S2 7987 www.lamborghinimura.com
Stop, stop, stop Philippe you're making me want to drive mine again NOW! I'm actually go to visit it tomorrow for some repairs as it warms here a bit. I can only imagine the cold where you are. What I noticed is that it rides so much better than my 2001 Sable wagon and handles much better as well but then the handling is not so surprising. I find it extremely stable feeling in a GT car sort of way. But it's no sports car. Biggest drawback is the monstrous steering. I think with a nice power steering system it would really help the car a lot. Once at speed it's find though. Bob S.
Yepp,Mine Gets better the Faster you Go.Slow driving, and parking is not so Fun.Wery stable at speed.A Fantastic Car!/Patrik G Sweden
Patrick, I've noticed in your mobile.de advert...that you have replaced your cylinder head gasket ? Did you have a water leak recently since you send us description ?
I love my Espada. I have other cars that make great mechanical noises, but nothing quite matches the Lamborghini V12. My second gear synchros are just a tad weak (surprise!) so I generally double-clutch my shifts, and it's a wonderful sound. There are many hills near my home, so I have to work the car through the gears going downhill and back up. My neighbor down the road lives in a home perched on the hillside. He called me up one day after I had made a trip in to the gas station. He said, "Please let me know whenever you are planning to drive your Lamborghini past my place. I love to sit on my terrace and listen to you go by. The sound of that car as you go down through the valley and then back up the other side is really quite extraordinary. I always thought it was a corny old cliche, but your car really does make music." He ought to know, as he plays in the Chicago symphony.
Hi There Philippe!, No water leak but some oil in the water Radiator.I am changing both head gaskets, just in case.No other problems. The parts are not so expensive, but labour is here. I have a Price on 44.900Euros on the Car wich I consider wery decent regarding the state of It. Ciao!/Patrik
Well,One Head Gasket Is Changed on the Car,and we are workng on the Other one right now.I have good help!
Looking at the other Espadas for sale on the Web, i would say 44,5K Euro its a really fair price for your car.
Yes You are Right!if you look at cheaper Cars there is always work on them.Or a Chevy V8 under the hood and a shiny Vinyl interrior.. This Car is totally restored for a lot of money at the Factory-as one of the wery few.And I am also putting money into it so it will run well. Its just as expensive to restore a Espada as a Miura,400GT or any other more expensive Lamborghini.
OK Olivier!I had People from Abroad here wanted to buy it in Late December. They Came up here arround the 15th of December.I said they had to wait,as tha car was not ready, and I went to the Samana Island at Rep.Dominicana in the Carribean for a Vacation.I got wery Ill there, and ended Up at the Hospital for 4 Weeks when I got home! They Gave me an offer on 42.000:- to my Wife, but I said No then. Lets see what happens.Had a wery serius Lamborghini Collector interested now,but he wanted it to be in the Original Color.Still I think the Car looks Great in Giallo! People realy notice it.Also those who not are rely Car interested, many Girls for instance..
Any idea which VINs belong to the cars. They used two different cars in that movie (an S1 and an S2), both with the same license plate and color combination.
