I have a pretty cool running Espada. Here it is... Runs great. Bout it from its second owner out of Delaware. He was an 85 year old dentist... Unit has every original part in tact.
Wheels all look like this... Needs some interior work. Driver seat is worn out.

    no I still haven't

it belongs to a friend, member of LCB, engine is new...

so he leaves it into my hands for a month to make the running-in while I will go in Italy for the Ferruccio's day event.

Yes, I think that's nuts too. The running one you and I were talking about with the oddly modified dash is eons better than this pile of junk. Who ever bought this, if the sale sticks, will lose their shirt if they ever finish making right. But maybe that's not important to them?

Jacques parted out three of of them and all were far better than this!

It's gone nuts for all cars IMHO and that doesn't leave me with a very secure feeling about these values.

The brokers and there are plenty on here want you to ignore any such comments but then they make money going up and coming back down.

    I just want stability.
Funny thing happen this morning. I got an email from the guy with that Espada. Let's just say he is well aware of the this auction and is probably going to raise his price.

My brother informed me that he is out. He just feels Lambos are not consistent. Our findings, projects range from 40/50k to near 200k, PROJECTS! That's here in US and Europe.
So, how does he know he is buying right?
As a group, we know the numbers here in the US, we know the cost of restorations. Therefore, we have a very good idea of what projects should cost in various states.

I have found running cars for the less than that 70k. That's the strange part about this auction. But, we see who bought it.

I said this about the Countach, it has GOT to calm down, find stability, and raise gradually. Same with all the others. The Urraco is the only one that is happening correctly.

IMO, this Esapda was a 40k or 50k car (I could not see the underside). Add the restoration costs IF you send it out and you are in the ballpark. I just do not know if these are 200-250k cars here. It would be nice is the Euro and US market being inline with each other.
BUT, you never know what it's worth when the years of restoration is done :)

    Let's clarify a point between US & Europe :

overhere some cars sold for such money as
    * the S2 offered at Retromobile by ODDS and belonging to MMC went for 250.000 €

    * the S1 blue spetralle sold by Klima Lounge at Stuggart for 300.000 € and resold at 350.000 € at Essen

    * the S1 gold sold by Klima Lounge for 280.000 € at Essen

    and I know 3x S3 recently sold for 170-180.000 €

There is nothing to do with madness... look what worth a mass production 911 of that era... and you can agree that a V12 worthes more than a flat 6...

See ... this is exactly what I mean. You reference 911 mas production cars going for so much money and that TOO is madness. I don't believe it enhances your case but merely highlights that everything is gone way too high too fast, Tulip Bulb Mania.

I agree that a Lot of Lamborghinis are rarer and in some cases a more unique design, not all of them though but I let people pick and chose what they think is "special". We have people going nuts over here about "muscle cars", that definition varies but none of them were well built sophisticated cars. Some had attractive body styles and a bunch had plenty of HP but crap handling. Still, people have paid insane amounts for them and except for the very particular examples they are not rare.

Bingo! It's quite risky right now IMHO. Get 'er done fast! :D

There have been a few high priced sales here in the USA, a few. If we can believe some of these eBay and used car lot sales prices then there have been some outrageously priced sales of near wrecks here as well.

If you think this was a $50k car then the sale price was not unreasonable. The difference will be a relatively small percentage of the total investment once the car is resurrected. Also, this car had some things going for it: S2 with stainless bumpers and knockoffs, Euro delivery car with no corner reflector holes, it lived in a field, yes, but in an arid location and seemed reasonably intact. Yes, drivers have come up for that price, but just because they are drivers doesn't mean they're in much better condition. You may still have to go through everything and it'll cost you about the same. I paid $25k for my "driver" in 2009, the car looked and ran great for something with original paint and interior. But I soon learned that it was one-redline-zing away from completely lunching its engine. The gearbox and differential had to be rebuilt as well. And the front suspension was all but collapsed...

Y'all want stability. Here are two facts that will not change anytime soon: they are not making any more Espadas; they are making more rich people every day.

yes, new rich people don't borrow money to buy cars... what people were doing when buying houses back in 2008 with the last big crisis...

market is stronger than 25 years ago when it falled down also due to 1991 Gulf war...

but, I'm not living with a crystal ball, I can't see future, we never what can happen on our world...

That's quite independent of which car we're talking about though, as rarity is no guarantee of desirability though at this point I have no idea about the market and I've been through one of these bubble & burst scenarios before. I just bought what I really liked. I suppose I hope they go through the roof too though that may precipitate my selling of them.

Expensive objects of desire are typically not kept inexpensively.

I remember fondly when we all just had fun with them and it wasn't a huge speculators game. I suspect I'm not alone in that regard. That seems to be the modus operandi of the Espada rescue squad based out of LA ... :D

    Yup, I agree.
    Thanks LAEspada for compliment.
I'm on east coast of US and grew up w a motor head parent. I like the old stuff because I grew up in PA, in the 70s, 80s.
What I should be doing is buying rare, new cars and staying away from these older "classics."
I have to admit, be issue of my age, 43, I am playing a speculators game with the cars that were cheap for you guys...
    What's a guy to do?
If fellas like me want an Espada, we have to pay period, big bucks!
Problem now is I can't afford to drive and fix anything on the car. This is the difference.
What I think Ill do is enjoy it a little, not drive hard, and if I really love it, sell some stock or save a ton, and keep. Can prob only afford to keep one of these type cars...
If I dont love, because I'm spoiled with the new tech of today, I'll sell and rest easy, hopefully recouping my relatively large investment.
I guess what I'm saying is, it would be smarter for my gen to buy the newer cars we like, faster, don't break down, and have a blast, and if we don't get lucky and choose a "modern classic" that appreciates, who cares, we don't lose the farm so to speak...
Issue for me is... These modern cars just don't look as great as cars like Espada, flared Porsches, some early Ferrari, BB512, cobra, GT350, etc.

I hope that there are enough nuts like you when it's my time to exit. Don't be discouraged by anyone. So it's encouraging to hear younger people that think an Espada is a cool car.

THEY ARE! Well ... they can get awfully warm inside on a hot day. ;)

I have a friend who also has been eschewing the newer cars for the older ones.

His 550 is gone, replaced with a Daytona about 7 years ago.

Now he wants to get rid of his 3 year old 911 convertible and get a 427 Corvette.

The newer cars keep dropping in value while the older ones go up.

But the new cars do work far better and if you drive them alot they are far cheaper to run.

Not many really do drive their old cars though. Jack R and the West Coast Espada Rescue Brigade being major exceptions. Still not like you would a new 911 though.
