    Yesterday, no fear to drive it the way it must be... and still some reserved margin on engine before reaching top RPM... but it needs a long, long, long straight & empty lane !

    Yes, if speedo is correct, that looks like ~150 mph at 5500 rpm. But, now in contrast to this photo below, a USA car with rebuilt gps-calibrated speedometer, we see ~140 mph at a much higher 6500 rpm. Is that explained by the Euro v. USA differential ratios? If so, the USA car will hit the red line at only ~155 mph. But the Euro car would theoretically go ~190 mph?

    I will ad that I trust more the rpm tacho than the speedo... may be too optimist ?

    I didn’t even know that there was a “block party”, so here we go:

    The Espada has a 4.50:1 (10/45) differential with an optional 4.09:1 (11/45) ratio. I believe all automatic came with the taller ratio. According to Road & Track 7000 rpm corresponded to 158 mph (on the 10/45 diff), which would be 174 mph on the 11/45 diff.

    So in the “best scenario” (high gearing and calibrated speedometer and tachometer) 5500 rpm would correspond to 137 mph (219 kph).

    You´ve got a couple of xxxxx. I can´t go faster than 140 km/hour with mine, my mind says: "slow down, you got three children to grow, including university" .-))
    The key is that speedos are not correct. Up to 10% more speed than real is considered "normal".

    In my 2010 daily car i find 6 -7 % more speed in the car computer than in my portable gps.

    Absolutely right Laust, this is all correct, real speed was 220 km/h on my COYOTE system that gives online real speed... as I wrote it was too optimistic...

    I use a Garmin satnav with large MPH display dial as my car has a KPH speedo. Given the potential for speedo inaccuracy and the inability of my brain to compute conversion to MPH quickly enough I find this a convenient and prudent solution.

    The speedo of my (early series II) Espada ends with 300 km/h and not with 280 km/h only, ääätsch (can´t translate that in the moment) ;) ;)

    Does anybody know the history of S3 #9120, car is located since many years in Switzerland but has US sidemarkers.

    Quite some time has passed since my last post. But now I know that our 8588 still has the original colour. First of all the thickness is that of a factory paint. On the roof it is between 83 and 91 um, on the doors between 75 and 116 um. Also wherever you look behind the doors you find the same color.

    I also checked the lambo registry and found the Series II Espadas 7614, 8116, 8209, 8280, 8286 and 8302 which have been delivered in Bronzo Met. The registry descibes the Exterior Color of all those as either Bordeaux or Red.

    I remember seeing this clip before though this example is of much higher quality! Thanks.

    Perhaps it's just out of sequence editing of the film for this clip but in the first scene the drivers window is smashed and the mirror broken off and in the next the window is rolled down as though it were still intact.

    And at 0:13 we learn that the price of the car was 14.000.000 lira in 1973, in Italy, at the currency rates of that era I would think around 24000 US $ :)

    Wasn't it Lamborghini's most expensive model for a while? There certainly is LOT of car there when compared with a Miura.

    I have a (Belgian) pricelist dating 1977: the Countach was 1.850.000 Belgian francs (about 46.250 €) and the most expensive Lambo at that time, second came the Espada at 1.500.000 BEF (about 37500 €).

    I meant before the Countach and all the others after that. They made and sold quite a few Espadas too. At least until the 70's energy crisis ...

    I suppose during the 'inter bellum', the small era in between the end of the Miura and the beginning of the CT production :) , the Espada was indeed their most expensive car. Ironically, for quite some time it was the most affordable on the second hand market. We all know that is changing rapidly :)

    It's changed yes. For how long we'll see. It's still the least expensive 12 cylinder Lamborghini. I don't know that the Jarama is really any different. Historically it wasn't.

    That doesn't make them any less expensive to repair though.

    I thought the Espada was always more expensive than the Miura?

    Could be, I don't know, what I do know is that the Espada's sold a lot better :)

    I guess it only appears that the window is smashed and the mirror is broken off because of the sound editing. I doubt they would have done that in reality.

    Yes but the audience is led to believe they were so from a film making standpoint ... poor continuity. I seriously doubt that an Espada's window was fixed quite that quickly ... LOL.
