Pitching? I've never heard called THAT? :) The perforations are missing in the leather. Unimaginable that this could happen now, ten - fifteen years ago OK. It's no longer difficult or expensive to have this done. IMHO the leather has the wrong sheen as well.

But this is a very early series 1 as evidenced by the operable front vent windows and the spring loaded arms on the rear window instead of gas struts. I haven't seen THAT many Espadas but I have seen one like it here in NJ. It was in fact the very first I went to look at when I began my search. The car was in shabby condition and had just be sold to a fellow in Germany. Perhaps this is that car? It was in a near rattle can quality white paint job at the time. Way too much work for me. I hope they have the Bob Huber reproduction slats on the back, the originals are big PITA for cleaning.

The next car I looked at was less than 40 miles away and that was the glass roof Espada.
Another car that required tremendous work.

The interior in a S1 is supposed to be a real PITA due to the dash instrument cluster.

It's still a very nice car. Seats need a redo however, head rests look wrong as well.

Also, I have been told, here in New York, there is a guy who is able to do the perforations.

Correct. He can do the seat backs in a uniform pattern too now on his CNC punching machine, unlike the "original" Lambrusco induced one's from Italy ... ;) The number of holes to hand punch is staggering.

No reason to sent the job across the ocean in either situation I would imagine. The guy in NY has been doing Countach seats for a lot of years he just wasn't well known.

I know and remember. I probably wouldn't have taken that one on either. That's the sort of car your friend is looking for right?

The idea of spending $100K or more on an Espada restoration still terrifies me. How long will these inflated prices last? Gary has bigger balls (or less brains? :D) than I.

    Your car is gorgeous Gary.

and they did the original perforation. you just have to watch verry close. love the yellow/gold paint. but the grey leather looks horrible to me. to far away from deep black.

NO it's not. That is a different link. The original is still broken and it wasn't yesterday.

So the car is back up on a different website.

This car deserves much better photos is those perfs are really there.

I've never seen headrests done that way, it is a very early car. Has anyone else?

On the original link I somehow managed to get the pictures in high resolution and specifically noticed the perforations (front and rear, seats and backs), which were “blended over” in the lower quality pictures.
For that level of restoration they should have found a better solution for the FIAAM prints on the air filter covers.

I am very impressed that they got 442 PS, without any visible effort. That happens to be 325 KW … hmm.

Now on my large computer screen I can see, barely, the perforations.

I agree, at that price there should be 100 pictures in high resolution.

True, but what about those 2 tone seats? And that kind of blue is not my flavour either :)

I love VIP interior. I have to wonder how good that paint is though. Hard to tell from the advert photos. I think Espadas look good in metallic blues.

Hi guys, I am looking for a concours restored Espada, preferably an S3, and preferably in North America.
[email protected] if you can help.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Nice car!

I nevertheless frequently wonder about the non-aligned exhaust end pipes, as also in this case. It is not too cumbersome to get that right. But probably just a fetish of me .... :D

They're still orange on the inside so I'd say these are newly fitted. I made a jig to align them properly when I had new tips welded on.

A tidy rear is always more appealing ... ;)
