    Hi Gary,

I use Shell V-power with octane booster and one a while with a little auto transmission (maybe 50ml) fluid in every gas full.

    Thanks for that Gus.

I understand the anti-knock part and hope that it does indead help with that as well as valve seat protection for those with the older style seats. Personally, I'm not getting any knock symptoms and my ignition system is all brand new with its calibration checked. My carbs are stripped down, cleaned-out, rebuilt fresh as well. But I am having some stumble issues always at about the same throttle position. So I'm hoping it will help with this.

But ... what I've yet to hear is someone explain why and how this product could be helping in such a situation? Thus far all I've read is anecdotal evidence that "it helps".

    Bob,
I think you need to try it in order to find the benifits. Even if your engine has the earlier 9.5 to 1 compression, you will see the difference. Gus (Espada 8616)

I will try it but given the new foot of snow that just dropped it will be in the spring.

I think I'll try a couple of bottles first before I buy a case. I'm just wondering what's "actually" going on with the newer gas and how this product helps with the stumble/surge/hesitation. I've heard a few ideas about this helping but no actual technical explanations as to how/why thus product remedies the symptom. The knock and extra lubrication I understand. I don't believe I have the earlier, slightly lower compression motor and my compression & leakdown test numbers were both good so why am I not experiencing the knock with pump gas?

Any V12 engine production number experts out there who have a production number for when the change was made?

Maybe a couple of questions for VLG?

Got the beast from the shop up thar in the great white north. roads dry and free of salt . Spent over hour driving thru the country with my son Ian. Waited for all to heat thru and all temps and pressures according to manual . Carbs tuned and octane boost in tank (Octane superior not here yet) so not sure what Brett used ? Never the less filled it with Shell ultra (no grain fed) and didnt take it past 5000 rpm to be safe. Pulled like a freight train. no pings or knocks during hard pushes , then idled thru town for a bit with no problems at all. Oh and have I mentioned the big reason for ownership ? The glory that is noise! 12cyl, 4 cams and big mother sucking weberinis!! I am one picky MFER and Brett Scott and John should be commended for all lists upon lists and their exacting attn to detail . I never met these blokes before and thanks Fchat for the recommendation!!! Here I was first lambo, blown headgasket, etc etc and i decided to go with Granturiamoauto knowing they did not have much lambo experience but none the less tones of ferrari 12 cyl weber experience. I did had a good feeling about these guys from the start and now I feel as if a made some real friends along the way . Gearheads thru and thru. I wil have some pics tommorrow

Congrats on getting the Espada out for it's first real drive! Sounds like the rush is still going! I remember taking delivery of my Espada and the realization that I actually bought a Lamborghini! How soon do you get it in for paint? Gus (Espada 8616)

I am a lurker here too, and sorry Ive posted nothing so far. Fantastic cars all things considered, and they can only appreciate with time.

Please allow me to punctuate my humble first posting with a pic of Helga in her Espada, as she demonstrates that there is ample bosom, er, I mean ample room, in the back of an Espada, for all manner of things.

Seasons Greetings to you & yours!

The equipment on the early series one cars is definitely different. Look at those unique supports for that hatch glass. And how the interior panels are shaped differently forming around the two hatch lock mechanisms. Then of course there are those fantastic horizontal slats on the rear glass. But sadly most cars only had the spare, tools and a battery under that rear carpet. They weren't as well optioned as this particular model ...

I've never been comfortable with additives although I have friends who use them and have been happy. There are just so many, and the variations of chemicals they use is a little scary. I've always preferred Turbo Blue race gas, mixed maybe 3 gallons or so per tank depending on the engine. I buy it by the drum and since we need it for a couple of our high compression muscle car engines too...Its 100 or 103 octane I believe.

When you figure the additional cost its not much more than the additives.

There's also Rockett Brand race gas which can be purchased in 5 gallon containers.

Interesting motor Trend link on octane ratings and additives:

No one was talking about "eating" anything. This is about the psuedo vodoo ritual rites often envoked to resolve the more difficult problems of exotic car ownership. So the chicken is the natural choice. I've never heard of a beaver of the mamilian genus residing in the Carribean or Africa. Time to put Leslie Nielson and Pricilla Presely back in the closet. I do love that scene though ... ;>)))

Gary, apparently another pervert from your neck of the woods ;>) I guess you're 100% correct so far in your assesment of Canadians.
