    Hi everybody!
I really like the Espada and when I get at least 30 grand i'll buy one.
Here's the thing, I really like S1 with the wire mesh grille and S2 headlight position (drawn back). Has anybody tried the combination between S1 grille and the S2 headlights position?
Is it possible to do this?

???? I never noticed a difference between the two. Perhaps you are refering to the S3?

can someone tell me if the steel frame that encases this glass on the side window that comes in contact with its rubber seal , should it be black, body color or , bare stainless ? Any correct pics of this and the handle would be greatly appreciated .

Also a HUGE thanks to Alex for sending me the original tan leather swatch( got it today) all the way from Italy.
    Bravo Fchat!!

For the green Espada which is currently on ebay the seller is claiming the below:

"It's always possible to tell if an Espada has had a colour change, as the heated rear window matrix should be the same colour as the car"

I've never paid attention to this but is there anyone who know if this is correct? If yes, is this also applicable for other models?

I just saw that too. I have no idea what he's talking about. My car is green and the defroster elements are not. I can assure you that my car has the original paint.
But given that you can pickup a very sorted S3 right now on Ebay (remember the brown one Ivan has) for the same price he's asking well ...

I suspect that green one needs a lot of work. Probably head gaskets very shortly.

It's RHD though. There's a red one on now too. Big rubber bumpers.

ok espada dudes since i am living the reality of buying a car that sat for 20 years...after reading the advert here is the truth about the green one on ebay .
IF THE NEXT OWNER THINKS HE CAN GET A NICE CAR WITHOUT INVESTING ANOTHER 50k STERLING THINK AGAIN!!!!!! I have bought parts and labour now on both sides of the pond and everything is more over there. I can say with certaintly the head gaskets are real dry and may blow as soon as the car heats up then when you get in the engine ya gotta do all that is required to get you out again! I am in no way discouraging a future buyer just being real. pics dont lie ....
Also if your refering to the defrost wires on the back window i think they are all that colour?

Went to see this down in Plymouth couple of years ago for£10k, I was looking for one but this I would say was really a complete rebuild if you wanted to drive it any where! Had been in the old boys garage for the time mentioned. He said to me the rear screen defrost was same colour as car, all the ones I have ever seen regardless of colour are that.

BTW the roof metal is sooo thin that just leaning on it could dent it we decided to glue on some thick rubber matting as shown to minimize the oil can effect and thereby reduce the chances of ripple or paint cracks .... time will tell . Also replaced the two plastic hoses that carry water down from roof drain pan . they were hard and cracked. If you have any staining back there in your headliner ya got big problems with this pan .
World Upolstry and trim in California sell the original "snake bite" headliner in both grey and ivory ...

That drain story is a bit terrifying Gary. Maybe a stainless steel collection trough in order? When I was at Bobileff's a few years ago there was an Espada there that had a big piece of that flat rubber magnetic mat (refrigerator magnet stuff) covering those "vents". When I asked Gary why he said to keep the water out. Seems it might be a good idea?

I just ran into a similar experience on my race car where the water drain at the base of the gas filler inlet was blocked by a hidden gasket and the water from washing the car had collected over a 4 year period. It ate a hole through.

I just love this stuff ...

Hey you are getting a lot closer. Lookin' good!

Sounds like a good idea on the roof.

Thanks for the tip on the headliner material. How much does it take to do the headliner?

Any luck with contacting the guy in Italia who does the perforations in the leather?
It took a very long time for the guy from S. America to get his leather back when he had Valentino handle the job. Maybe going a bit more directly will speed things up a bit?

what a shame this mexican car has a turn signal in place of where the script should be > Probably mandated courtesy of the mexican DOT.

Bob on mine we rebuilt the roof drain pan entirely so no need to delete really so i suspect im good for at least 30 more years !

    Ok so here goes.

there is a very small peice of black body side steel moulding ( approc 2 inches )running from the key end of the door handle to the edge ofthe door and like its long brother on the other end of the handle has a little tab . should this tab tuck under behind the handle or should it be sticking outove the end of handle ? I say under but was car was repainted once when i got it and quite poorly i might add.......

    BOB;
I have not persued the leather question yet too busy trying to get this baby roadworthly. As far as the headliner is concerned when you get the new stuff it comes in a roll and you have to order slightly more than you need as you need to loose a few inches front to back to sew in the many bows that hold it from sagging and give it that nice arch in the middle.
