Here's a pic of us doing a complete carb swap at Concorso Italiano this past August. Notice the old carbs in the trunk. Video here: http://s135.photobucket.com/albums/q157/EveryJoyPop/?action=view¤t=espadarestartcutdown-1.mp4 Image Unavailable, Please Login
This car was in Colorado before. Strange feature is the "KERR" sticker on the rear. Anyone who knows the meaning of the sticker. Was this a dealer name?
That's a typical thing here in the states but on cars of this caliber I've never seen them. usually the License plate frame is utilized. So?
This story and your exploits last summer went viral! My neighbor came over after cutting the grass last summer to hand me a copy of this story which I had already heard about. These types of exploits only serve to increase awareness to more and more people who may not have ever known what the hell an espada is. I can't tell how many times I have heard "I've only read about his car but never seen one" then they go on to say " I read about a guy who changed all 6 webers at a car show somewhere in the states"! If and When the day comes when a mint a Espada routinely changes hands for close to that of its f car counterpart of the same vintage , I really can't see myself even then considering trading These cars are just so cool in the flesh and the noise is incomparable with anything else Thanks to you for raising the Espada flag. I posted this on VLG but it is about Espadas so here I go: I wanted to chime in on my experiences with setting up a distributor for magnetic pickup. It started with a trip down to Jack's annual San Diego Lamborghini Meet back in October. Mike Trivichs Espada started running on what seemed to be the left bank only. This led to us taking things apart on Mike's car. While the real reason for the car running poorly on the right bank turned out to be the center muffler disintegrating and plugging the rear with the glass pack pieces, we found problems with his well-worn distributor. Mike installed a photo optic trigger 20 years ago but photo optics get dirty. Also, the weights were so worn that they weren't functioning. It was decided it was time to bring it up to date. Fred Zakaria has been working on a magnetic trigger system for the twin distributor motors. I asked Fred if I could bring up Mike's single distributor system and see about trying a dual magnetic set up. Fred is an excellent machinist and went to town making parts. The pickups that we are using are MSD. Fred discards several parts related to point operation and manufacturers new parts to enable everything to fit properly. Also Fred re-machines the advance weights that GT Car Parts sells as there are no Lamborghini advance weights available. The advance weights that GT Car Parts sells are close but limit the amount of advance. There is a cup that the weights ride in and the weight spring pins rest on. This needs to be welded and ground smooth. Fred also made new pins for the weight springs. As you can tell a lot of work and time went into this distributor. In Redwood City south of San Francisco there is a shop, GP Enterprises (gpenterprises99.com) that works on Lamborghinis and yes, Ferraris too. The owner, Geoff Provo has been working on these cars for 35 years. He currently is rebuilding a 400 GT engine that was in a world of hurt and also a P 400 that has been sitting for years. He just installed the latest distributor machine to replace his Sun machine. We gave him our distributor and he verified that the trigger system was fine. We did need to go back to him to dial in spring weights to get the advance curve where we wanted it. I know that Fred is making a small number of parts at this time but he really wants to spend more time on his 350 GT restoration. Now where are those Espada Girls to put it on?
