    Hi Philippe,

Have the leaves not turned as yet or is it just the species of tree behind your lovely Espada?

BTW, isn't the Espada just smashing in those blue-green colors? ;)

Um, yes! The one I saw had Targa plates too BTW. Can't be too many of them around this part of the world. Do you know anything about this particular Espada?

The guy who bought it was on one of the other Lamborghini forums. I'm sorry but I don't remember which one right now. Maybe Lambotalk?

It's been customized a bit. It has a cloth interior which we never saw here in the US.
Even with it presenting that nicely he had a few issues to deal with after he bought it.
All Espadas are attention whores it would seem ... LOL

Has anyone replaced the front seat belts with some sort of retractor mechanism which keeps them taut when not in use??

Oh you've got those crappy European belts too?

I've looked and there certainly are solution out there but i think they all will involve a bulky mechanism that's either at the top or the bottom of the door post which in this car looks like hell and becomes an obstruction for getting into the back seat.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

I suggest a trip over to the VLG as well here for such questions. There are plenty of restorations shops on there or maybe you're already there?

If you find something you really like please followup with us if you would. I need to do this this winter my driver side belt in nonop now.

Gary, I wish I could agree but I think they're just nod towards safety. Even more "regular" belts are little more than a fairy tale. Once you've gone through equipping a car that has a proper roll cage with a 6 point harness and you're wearing a Hans device all the rest seems just silly. But better than nothing.

    They ARE less intrusive though.

LOL! So you'd rather go quickly then? I just like to increase my odds.

Don't forget all of that expensive Italian leather (some of it perforated) and fiberglass between you and the gas tanks! ;)

I think maybe we've gotten a bit morbid here?

But yes there are much more safely built cars than an Espada. Especially forty years later.

VLG member. Both need full restoration. 25k each is overpriced. Been trying to sell them for years now.

But where are you going to find a series 1?

There are both very, very close to being parts cars.

I should think 25-30K for both is more like it but OMG all the stuff that needs fixing!

Wow, very sad to see them in this condition. S1 is rare and hard to find. I am sure someone will buy the S1 just put in a garage for another 5 years and clean it up and sell it for $50,000 in the same condition. Remember the the yellow Urraco in the same condition on eBay. The seller got it for $6,500 and sold it for $13,200 in three weeks, I think.

That sort of increase might be a bit optimistic. These are both somewhat rough cars. There have been other S1 cars over the last 5-7 years that were a much better proposition. The S1 cars frequently are the roughest looking but any of them can become very bad quite quickly if they're left outside. Just observe this pair. Rebuilding the unique dash on the S1 is supposed to be a difficult job to do properly.

From three years ago. I remember this one well.

Yes, it is an S1 but for 25k I would hope you could get one just a teeny weeny bit better and drivable.
I do give him kudos for being up front and honest that both need full resto.

Remember the S1 at Gullwing with the GM motor. That body was very good. The guy re-did the interior. Reversed the radiator fan, did a few other things to the motor and is driving it. He paid less than the 17k they wee asking. I guess 15k. But the thought is: the body was good and the interior was rough.....now throw in a 25k engine rebuild if it had the v-12......

If it only had the original motor on the side ...

The missing body & interior stuff is what's so hard and expensive to find now.
Transmission is expensive. But the engine and suspension parts are relatively available.
Still expensive to do an engine though if you're paying someone else.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that an Espada done to the same level as a top notch Miura (which means over restored these days) could be even more expensive if both are in identical condition. It's a lot of car to restore.

Believe me, I've had thought about that S1 for the last year. I just can't bring myself to pay that price (that plus the fact I'm broke poor :) and I'm not as brave as Gary. lol

I think it would be cheaper to bring a S1 from overseas in fine condtion than to restore this one or any one.

I think for some reasons we all thinking of restoring the S1. No, just buy the car for $15k and put it away and sell it later for more. The only problem with this is you will not able to drive it. It is like putting your money in the bank perhaps with much higher returns.
