Many years ago, I was wandering through the maze of small businesses that were set up in the old Honolulu Iron Works building. I saw a Ferrari 275 GTB that had its roof cut off in the process of becoming a NART Spider re-creation. Even then, before I was interested in the world of Ferrari, I thought that it was a strange place to be doing this work to such an exotic car.

A short while ago a friend stopped by and told me how he was at the Iron Works site as it was getting ready for demolition to become the new Federal Building. He said that he saw this roof leaning against the building and that the gentleman working there said to take it if he wanted it. It was going to be put into the dumpster. My friend said it was stashed in his garage, but that he was selling the house and it had to go. Did I want it? Well, I couldn't stand the thought of it being thrown away. My "work truck" was pressed into service and another piece of junk takes up residence at my home for wayward junk.

    Sowest,

What a great story! I and many other Ferrari enthusiasts that would love to mount that "trophy" on their garage wall! It sounds like you should write a book on the "History of Ferraris in the Hawaiian Islands".

    Hi Brandon

I really do enjoy having the 275 roof. It is a useless piece, but it is terrific to see it hanging on the wall of the shop. Hmmm, I don't think I will be writing any books. I see little benefit in adding to the world's supply of bored people!

If you would care to add a few minutes of boredom to your life, I posted the pictures of the roof in the vintage section. It got a bit more reaction there than it did here in "Hawaii".
