That is kind'a long time, which is a symptom of a failing F1 pump, most likely. My advise is to read the following threads to get a better understanding of the problem you facing: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=268458&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306685&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291200&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282876&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282355&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=283583&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280814&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279753&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280651&highlight=juri http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278455&highlight=juri If you have any questions regarding the F1 hydraulic unit problems, let me know. Cheers.
I just timed it to help out the OP. Wasn't looking for someone to tell me there is a problem. Yikes, I certainly hope that's not the case...
Hi Juri, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. Thanks for all the links to the other threads!! It's good information to have IF I do indeed have a problem. I actually read the pump replacement thread before when I was having the 'transmission fail" light problem caused by a low battery. I came to this site to seach for information. The car has been running fine ever since I got the fault to clear, so I'm assuming everything is okay. Everyone was so nice I've decided to stick around in case I have any other dumb questions related to the cars. As an engineer, I found it an interesting read, however I lack the experience and the tools to do anything like that myself. I was happy I was able to hook up the battery tenders myself. haha Cheers, Patty
No problem Patty. I also hope that your F1 pump will continue to function normally. Dont hesistate to ask if there will be any problems... Cheers. Juri.
Replace the relay and see if that shortens prime time. The relay craps out and the pump will run while the car is parked burning out the motor.
FoS recently installed a 360 F1 pump (and new relay) into my 355 two months ago to replace my failing original. The old one used to run for a minimum of 8-12 seconds while the F1 indicator light did it's thing flashing not allowing me to take the car out of gear to start it. Now, it runs for about 1-3 seconds--it is blazingly fast and I can literally take the car out of gear almost immediately upon turning the key.
Much easier to replace the relay than the pump. Sounds like it's worth a try. However the time of the pump running still seems to be a function of the time since I've last opened the door, like one would expect... What happened to the OP??
Well, here is what I can tell about the relay - the old-type relays are not reliable, as I described before: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=268458&highlight=juri Therefore, my suggestion is to replace the old relay with the latest model (grey or orange in color; search FerrariAds section of this forum). Also, to prolong the life of your pump and improve it's operation, you may consider installing the F1 puimp radiator kit: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=343620 Cheers.
