Prices for the original cooling fan thermoswitch Ferrari 158655 are very high.

An alternative part meeting the official specification "TERMOCONTATTO 88øC-82øC" seems to be a Facet 7.5102
Other sources say the spec is 92øC-87øC an that would be a FACET 7.5031

Both mentioned Facet parts can be found for around EUR 10,- here in Germany. Original part is around EUR 113,- without VAT.

I noticed that the Saab "shift coupling" part #s 7576416 or 61340142 look suspiciously like the Ferrari part 163525 anti-vibration "bar buffer" used on manual transmission 355s. These tend to rot with age and two are required for any replacements or F1 to manual conversions. The difference in cost is $60 vs. $7. Not certain the dimensions line up of course but maybe someone wants to take one for the team. Good luck and report back.

I tried ordering the Air Box vibration mounts from Advanced Antivibration Components to find that they were out of stock. Thought it was a good opportunity to post my findings of current prices from various suppliers of the actual replacement part along with after market “equivalent” replacements.
    Ferrari part 142202
    Maranello Classic Parts $23.85
    Same part from Maserati $11.18
    Ricambi America $29.82
Advanced Anti-vibration Components $3.87 (not in stock, 6 to 8 week delivery)
McMaster-Carr 9217K35, $1.93 in stock arrived in 2 days UPS ground.
    3/4 high, 1 inch diameter, 1/2 inch M6 mount.
I ordered from McMaster-Carr, pictures of parts for comparison along with dimensions diagram.

Unfortunately the Saab buffer is not quite an exact fit....studs are slightly narrower diameter and stud spacing is about 1mm off. I'm sure they would work if the Ferrari part becomes NLA (you'd have to use different nuts) but they are not quite a direct fit replacement.

Great find and info, thank you! I ended up choosing the extreme temperature version given the proximity to the engine and exhaust. Probably doesn't matter but here is the McMaster part number for those for future reference. 4403K722.

Recently, good buddy of mine dropped off his 355 wheels to have my guy refinish.

We did, and I delivered them back to him today. On final inspection I noticed hairline cracks on the red arrow part

I assume those are pressed in? Is there a PN? And can they be replaced? I assume this happens from over-torquing?

(photo not of actual wheel, but of where the damage is)

Magnesium is soft, so probably not ideal to mate a steel bolt with. The aluminium (alloy?) inserts are denser , probably help distribute the force and provide some kind of sacrificial surface. My car had 3 cracked inserts when I bought it (picked up on the PPI).

I now have a few new inserts on standby. I always use a torque wrench, but I have no control over bolt torque when my car is being worked on by others.

LOL....My apologies, but I am still lost......are these "covers" for lug nuts? or, do these replace the lug nuts? Are these fitted from the factory, or are these an upgraded goodie?

They are the liner for the current holes in your wheels. you already have them, if yours crack or are beat up, your can replace them

To my knowledge, they've never been for sale oem. They're just simply included as part of your wheels. Hill engineering design these as replacements that part that never was supposed to have to be replaced

I recently purchased a Comfort Seat on eBay for my '98 F355. It's in very good shape mechanically, I'll be refinishing the leather thanks to the help of Leqtherique Restoration Products and Krysti at Leatherique.
I found that the seat back release lever handles were falling off, cracked and previously glued at the center post. Searching for replacement Ferrari part 64341600, and sending an email inquiry to Maranello Classic Parts found that they were no longer available.

My understanding was that the seat was made by Recaro for Ferrari, although a representative of Recaro denied it. Searching for Recaro parts on the web, turned up part # 1883321 which looked very similar. I found a company in PA that listed them for $24.00 each, although they only stocked one. Further searching turned up Aardvarc Racing in CA. They stocked the part for $10.00 each, plus the required retainer clip for $2.50. Ferrari sites made no mention of the clip. I ordered two from Dave to see how they would work. The only difference between the Ferrari original part and the Recaro part is the slightly taller dome shape of the outer portion. The width, shaft and clip are a perfect fit.

Maranello Classic parts replied a few days later to inform me that they located two of the original Ferrari parts # 64341600, for $148.00 each. Humm, $296.00
and no retainer clip, or $12.50. I think I'll stick with my Aardvarc Recaro part.

To update this after re-checking the parts quote email on the actual Ferrari part. Quote was £115.13, = $151.51 USD each. The price on the part before it went NLA, was $43.88.
