Good evening and happy X-mas, I saw a picture where somebody installed a cabin air filter at the heater box, where the recir-flap is located. Am I correct that this is non-standard? Who of you is using such a filter and from where did you get it? Best regards from Switzerland Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh and I'm not using any filter I usually habe my windows down anyway so I enjoy all that the air has to offer.
I was just in there, mine has no filter. As mentioned if you have a spider, that toothy grin while driving is my filter
There is a filter made of foam deep in the box. You can't get to it. I have an extra box and when I took it apart I noticed the foam. It is pretty thick and seems like it would block a lot of air.
Hello F355Bob, can you tell me where this foam is exactly located? I found on my car several pieces of grey foam in my air direction barrel, wondering if its maybe that mentioned filter. Attached is a picture of a box that someone else opened (maybe with the filter removed already): Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, it is a gray foam filter. I don't see it on an exploded view in the parts diagram. In the box I took apart it was full of small tree pollen etc. If I remember, it was between the condenser and air direction diffuser .
The foam is not for filtration, it was for sealing and the reason its kicking around is because its failing from age.
There is foam around the diverter that is for sealing. There also is a bigger piece that acts like a filter. I have the parts in storage and will look at them next week, but there is a foam filter that the air flows through.
thanks for all the replies. As far I understand correctly, the filter is located between the AC Evaporator/hot water heat exchanger and the air direction flap. I will try to look in there with a mirror/boroscope via removed center face vent/air direction barrel. Best regards
