    Afternoon all.

Following my post of a couple of days ago regarding the above. The many replys were much appreciated and I now have a good idea what to look for and what the running costs will be.

However, I'm interested as to what you guys pay for insurance? my 993 costs me around £500 pa fully comp on limited mileage.

I realise that on the total scale of things this is probably going to be a minor item but it does no harm to ask.

    Cheers

My 993 was £1250 so I don't think it was too bad really!

hi there, in similar situation,,, 38 yr old, 3 point, no claims, pay £700 odd for 1997 Carrera 2S,,, have just (and I mean in the last hour) bought a 355,, same year, 1997, berlinetta, insurance ranged up to £1500 ,, but got best deal with adrian flux, 0800 783 1392,,, quoted £738 but needs a tracker,, which is another £399 plus £120 /year, so spoke to them and the will do it for £759 with no tracker,,,, (have put my discount onto this policy)..5 years protected,,, (glasgow post code)...

Norton Insurance (Heritage) who insure the porsche is on a classic (even although under 10years old), policy that does not accrue discount.....

    cheers

Try Aon, A-Plan, Footman James, Tesco and even give L&V a go (they hiked their premiums last year, which dicked me off enough to move, but they still weren't that bad).

Plus do a search for more input.

I had major problems with Adrian Flux about 6 years ago when I had my escort cosworth stolen, they insured me thru a company called "highway" fully comp for the market value of the car which was £18k at the time, they gave me a really good quote and took my money within a space of 10 mins, 7 months later when my car got nicked I was offered £5.5k !!!!!!!!!!! that was just the start , the salvage company sold the car before I had been paid out and all in all had to wait 2 years to get my money thru the insurance ombudsman in the end.

Make sure it is not "HIGHWAY" (robbery) that willbe insuring you !!!!!!

    Thanks for all the replys.

It sounds as though the costs are similar to the 993, I have been quoted anywhere between £400 and £2000 in the past.

As usual the secret is to shop around, there seems to be no short cuts to a good deal.

There are quite a few horror stories on the net about Flex paying up for claims etc.
