Excellent, thanks. I've ordered the cable adapter and a scanner, so hopefully they'll be here tomorrow.

Theair injection pipe being loose could be the cause of the Slow Down light flashing. To much unburnt fuel getting into the cats and they over heat.

Which company did you order the adaptor from? Some adaptors may have oversized pins. Avoid the "Goliton" brand.

If you need more information on the wiring going into those extra engine harness plugs, the plugs are numbered accordingly:

Ah, I literally just order this: Goliton® OBD OBD2 16 Pin Connector Diagnostic Adapter for FIAT 3 Pin: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories.

    Are any of these better?

Qiilu 3 Pin to 16 Pin OBD2 Adapter Connector Diagnostic Cable for Fiat Alfa Lancia: Amazon.co.uk: Automotive

What are all these loose wires (circled)? Something you were inspecting?

Keep an eye on the power steering reservoir cap. The older type sometimes splits and fluid spills out.

Not sure, but the Amazon star rating may be a clue. The Goliton brand shows only 3 stars.

Pretty sure those wires are for a trickle charger.

OK, started it up and let it warm through for 5 mins. Sounded "ok", but my ears aren't yet attuned to what "normal" sounds like. Once warm, it did seem to rev freely to about 4k revs. Time to drive it around the block...

Hmm, that didn't work. I think it's definitely a misfire. Can really start to hear the bup bup bup. I'll get the spark plugs out tomorrow.

This tool from snap on is a easy way to find which cylinder is missing with out removing the plug wire and damaging the coil
you can find cheap on eBay and other sites

Weak and miss firing will damage the cats and make them overheat so driving or even running for long periods of time till fixing the problem can really hurt the cats so the faster you find the problem less expensive the repair will be

Yep - or simply won't tighten fully and fluid seeps out - Fortunately replacing the reservoir (comes with cap - can't just do the cap) is one of the least expensive things on 355 and easily obtained from various sources - I always prefer Ricambi but your call - Cheers :)

Where did you get this car? Did you not have it inspected before buying?

Bought from an independent dealer. Car had only recently had a major service and has run really well until this. It's also still under the dealer's warranty.

I haven't really looked into these. It looks like they are hard to find (new)... P/N 167002. I see some are fitted with aluminium Ferrari caps:

    https://redbaycars.com/webshop.html#!/ferrari-f355/products/oil-tank-with-cap-f355-0x2f-360-part-nr-167002

The tank is relatively cheap, so just P&H and labour.

Mine (95) is original and no problem. I have suspected for a long time that the real issues are 1) over tightening the car which splits it, or 2) the tank is mounted too low and the cap contacts the plastic piece that covers the throttle linkage before the cap is tight.

Anyway, no big deal. BMW part $10 at Rock Auto (1989 BMW 325i)

Then why are we worrying about this when it is still under the dealer's warranty?

I was hoping it was something simple i could fix myself over the Xmas period - possibly too much of the Caterham owner in me?

Bit disappointing today... Got the car adapted to accept a standard OBDII diagnostic tool (Fiat 3 Pin converter plus power from 12V plug), but the bluetooth tool I bought isn't pairing to anything :(. Anyone had any experience using a vGate iCar Pro please? Red light (power) is on, and blue light (bluetooth) is flashing, Ta.
