Yes it is!!! The car has LM brakes and wheels. Here's a shot from back in the day. (yeah, I'm the guy in the Skunk hat!) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, since there is no transaxle...I would have to assume that is flywheel horsepower. Still impressive though..
All the normal hot rod stuff. LM turbos, different cams, port matching the intake and exhaust. Bigger bore, bigger stroke, more compression, bigger injectors, High volume fuel pumps.... Different chips obviously.
Yeah, Just your basic 200mph street legal race car.......... on STEROIDS!!! Too much power is just about enough!!
Oh hell yeah... Cannot imagine how long the line is for a ride in that thing but can I take a number? Took for bloody ever but its gotta be worth it!! Cheers Kevin
Amazing ! How long ago did this mad project start ? You have joined James and Chris Parr on my Hero list
Its maiden voyage! Now imagine this picture just a needle or two more to the right and that will be Rick very soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Suuweetness Rick!!!! That sure will cut pizza delivery time down. LOL Okay I have to ask. Are you gonna run it at the Silver State?
Unofficially , Yes... We missed this weekend coming up in Elko, but we may give Battle Mountain a shot next month. It has a 6 mile section of twisties. Hwy. 318 (Silver State) has some pretty good bumps and is pretty boring and straight. It's also 90 miles. Blown cars have a habbit of blowing up there I think we will keep the fuel curve on the rich side to try and keep it safe. Here's the deal... A U.S. F40 is only geared to top out at 194 mph (2.90 ring and pinion) Euro cars have a 2.72 gear and are good for 201 mph. So, to run a U.S. car to 200+ mph you either need to run a 27" tall rear tire or spin the motor to 8000 rpm. The stock chip cuts out at 7700 rpm. Also, an F40 will only *Tech* to 165 mph. So *IF* we do run the car we will have a camera and GPS to record our Unofficial 200 mph run.
Rick, I am curious, why are you running stock headers? I would think Tubi's would flow better.... Did Rod drew build your motor? Did you consider using Tate Casey?
Well with the amount of power your engine is putting down now, you will get there in a hurry. Are you gonna change the gearing, or leave it as is?
Yes, Rod at FAI built the motor. We did the dyno work at Tate's. I didn't know Tubi made a header for the F40. I'm not worried about making more power. I am actually a little affraid of breaking the gearbox or an axle with the amount of torque we now have. When we were playing with boost on the dyno we made 740 Ft. pds. at 3900 rpm!!! I think if I were to do it again I would leave the bottom end alone and work on the heads and cams. Ernie, I am leaving the U.S. gears in the car for now. I have a rear tire that is 26.4 tall that should do the trick. We have set the rev limiter high enough just in case.
Rick... Glad to see the car is finally gonna hit the road again... Will you be attempting any records with it, now that it's been modified...?
you know....once the engine is back in the car, put some well placed stickers on it for about 10 more hp! j/k
Rick, I have a few more questions if you don't mind: 1) What kind of boost did you have to run to get those numbers? 2) What did the A/F numbers look like? 3) How many pulls on the dyno did you end up making? 4) Were there any problems of any consequence? Thanks, Steve
#1 About stock, less than 20. We ran 28# when we recorded 740FT.PDS. of torgue. We still need to do more tuning. We are going to put some break in miles on it and then go to the chassis dyno. #2 Still pretty rich. We are trying to error an the side of safety. After we break it in we will lean it out a bit. I know there is another 30+ HP in it. #3 Quit a few. We were sorting out the waste gate. #4 Still working on the waste gate. If you are interesting in doing this, give Rod a call @ 949 631-6373
Holly crap Rick, that looks aweomse!! It's like bringing Frankenstien back from the dead. I hope to see it sometime.
