    Hi F40 guys.

I am having some carbon rear wings made like the one's in the picture's below.
They are a copy of the LM wing that used to be sold by Tubi. That part is no longer available so I have decided to have them remade.
If I can find 3 more people that want them the price will be about $4200.

Please PM me if interested. This is the same wing that you see on the F40 is the F40 picture thread.

    Rick

Sorry about the picture with the girls. It's the only pic I could find with the wing on my car. :)

Rick - how does it install?
    Does it involve major surgery?
    Is it adjustable?

BTW, no apology necessary for the pics....:)

I might be interested in the small wing that fits into the larger one. Forgive me here, I am not sure what you would call it, but it's the adjustible smaller one. Mine is coming apart a bit on the right side.

It looks like it involves some and yes it is adjustable. I think there are five different angles that you can position it at.

The only thing stopping me is the fact that I have to drill holes into my rear decklid to do it, and I never like drilling holes in a Ferrari. How much more downforce does it produce? I'm trying to weight the pros and cons...

IIRC, all of the LM style wings require this. Natural concern, but it's not just Rick's.

PS: Rick - we all know that's not you! Where's the beaver cap?!?

Those are some nice looking pieces. Are they prepreg (dry lay-up) autoclaved carbon fiber? If they are not you better put them in the sun for a couple or hours to see if they delaminate when thay heat up. All that clear paint can cause the same issue. Even the Tubi ones have problems. The Tubi endplates are angled after the wing mount. yours appear to straight.

Actually you don't have to drill holes. We used double stick tape where it sits on the deck lid. Works great. It takes less than 10 milutes to remove and reinstall the stock one. (6 bolts on the side of the wing)
It helps with high speed tire spin and cornering.
Besides that, it looks really kewl! :)

Actually, they are angled in the front and straigh in the back. (but you know that) The factory wing is angled on the ends, so the end plate is angled to match and the rear wing is straigh. Frank posted some better pictures. (thanks Frank)
I have some shots against a straight edge if you really want to see the difference.
There is a wing being made that uses spacers to take the angle out of the sides of the wing, But I personally don't lke the way it looks.

These will be vacuum bagged and auto claved by one of the leading Carbon composite companies in the U.S.

    Rick
Maybe these pics will help. The first shot shows the angle going to the straight. The red paper shows you the wing versus a 90 degree angle.

REALLY? Did you cut off those bolt heads and attach them to the top of the bracket to make them look bolted? If so, then count me in on the order. I'm sold! :)

Oh - and how about making a CF front bumper trim piece? Anyone got any leads on those?

I think Eric at www.ebscarbon.com has made the front lip before. You were asking in your other thread about more CF parts - he has shaved off more than a hundred pounds (can't recall his figure) from the stock F40 internals and bodywork with his CF.

The photo that I posted above is of Wes' F40, not Rick's. I wonder if Wes' really has the bolts of if they are just for show.

    Great idea Rick!

OK.... while we're at it then, any of you other F40 owners want to get a front lip and airboxes (and maybe some other CF stuff) made altogether? Check out the escarbon link in Ryan's post. I'd be interested in a CF wastegate tube, some airboxes, and a front lip at the least. Anyone else wanna explore this together?

    Rick -

We need a close up pick of yours like post # 4 above - It would show the "illusion" of the bolts better. :)

Here's a quick shot Slag..... I just thru the wing back on so a friend could take some photos. It only takes about 10 minutes. This wing is actually on loan to me from a friend. He was run it "taped on" at over 160 MPH with no problems.

Steve, 410SA and William. I will contact you guys later in the week. If you want to PM me your phone numbers that might make it easier.

    Nice!

Looks like the "Fake" bolts aren't in place right now?

BTW (Way off topic). Did Will get a red Corvette with black rims?

Yes, they are!! They are button head allens.... My camera takes poor close ups. We ran out of tape too. Just sort of put it on for some pic's. I guess I should clean up the bracket. That's how Amir gave it to me.
I'm sure Frank will get some good pics at CC this weekend.

    Yes, that's Will's LT4.
