Was driving today with the roof down for 8 hours or so, hot and dusty weather. After stopping I tried to put up the roof. The body panels raise and it sounds like the motor continues to turn but the soft cover never really moves. Motor will run seemingly for ever, no error message. When I then reverse direction to open the roof, the two small body panels behind the headrests get stuck until I trigger that mechanical switch behind the drivers headrest and then it will go to the fully open position. But I still cannot do anything to get the roof up. Ideas?

So the small flaps move but the roof mechanism will not?

that would make it seem like you have a hydraulic pressure problem (leak) since the small flaps are mechanically driven but all the rest is hydraulically driven.

Yes. The body hatch near the trunk top lifts up but the roof cover itself will not lift.

Usually heat causes the sensors to not operate correctly..meaning not sensing the next step in the process..so a guess would be the sensor that says flaps open continue to lift roof is not saying that due to heat on sensor or physical expansion that the sensor doesn't accommodate for

The best is to get a diag tool and see all the various sensors on/off and narrow the problem down

As mentioned above it can be a pressure or ram issue

Put car in garage and let it cool ..try again and report back

Yeah check the fluid level behind the passenger seat when it’s not in use and see the level.

also be careful not to over run the pump. It gets hot quickly

Sun went down, temps cooled off, roof started working properly. Anyone have a schematic of the sensor interlock circuit?

Send me a PM with email ..I will send it over
But given that you can recreate the issue it's very easy to just put the diagnostic tool on it look at all the switches when it's working (same spot) and then look at all the switches when it's not working and you'll determine which one is bad or needs to be a realigned
