I own both cars. The 296 is a generation ahead in terms of acceleration, handling, and just overall responsiveness. And for the record, I love my F8S and don't plan on ever selling it. And yes, the haptic buttons are freaking stupid and just unnecessary. Who asked for this?!? No one.

I have no idea how hybrids will be viewed long-term, but damn if it isn't a quick car that's a blast to drive. The resale market being slow is, in my opinion, more a function of higher interest rates and incredibly higher pricing from the factory. If either of those hadn't happened, the car would be much stronger in the secondary market.

Have a look at the stock prices of the long term asset stocks - REITS. They have not had a bump because of the fear of the inflationary effect of the Trump policies if they are full implemented.

Regarding the resale market, there is still an anomaly if one considers the relative prices of the F8 and 296 - they are very similar, while logic would lead to have the 296 a lot more expensive (considering it's newer, more expensive as new, and offers a lot more in terms of performance).
That shows that there is some distrust specifically against the 296; maybe the changes are too big to be comfortably accepted by some people (even something as relatively minor as turbocharging made some 458 customers reluctant to appreciate the 488). That may change over time if/when the new technology gets more acceptance (the F8 and 488 do not suffer anymore from the same bashing as the 488 did for a while - although there is still some residual bashing :p).

Adding turbos and the move away from NA was not minor.

    I wrote "relatively" :D

  8. This is actually an interesting question.

What was the bigger shift in philosophy?

    NA to Turbos?

Or PICE (or Pure Internal Combustion Engine) to Hybrid?

Will take F8 over 296, specially the looks.
296 is smaller, front is strange. Rear I can live with.
    Not a fan of v6 + hybrid/electric.

Give me F8 with latest tech/interior, we have a home run :)

Na to turbo. The latter sounds terrible. Even the 296 sounds better.
    Relatively.
