Good point, the only reason I can think it would be taped like that is for protection from chips, but it looks like a test car so what do they care if its roughed up? Wetpet, when did you take these pics?
What is going on with the red F-104? I didn't know that there were any of those things left in Europe that had not been crashed.
freaky i was there 2 weeks ago today as well, they must rotate the cars around in that main room often, i was there march 26th and that 360 spider wasnt there... and that daytona racecar was down on the floor Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
i was there the next day and they pulled the car in the middle of your picture out of the way and switched up the daytona and then pushed the 360 over. they did it all while i was there. it looked like your pic when i got there and my pic when i left. they probably changed it some more after i left. didn't look like they were finished.
Tillman was good enough to PM me with a clip - it seems it was given to the factory as a good-will gesture from the Italian military, after being used in a promotional with a Ferrari F1 car. Shame it has been left out to corrode away, like we did with the Saturn V boosters. http://www.slate.com/id/2163780/ I had a really nice guy who had been in the Norwegian Air Force for my Commercial/Instrument flight instructor. He flew one of these, and could regale you all day on both it's incredible performance and also it's reputation as a widowmaker. His joke was - do you want to have an ex-military Starfighter? Then, just buy some land in Germany, and eventually one will fall there for you. Ok, now Woods goes back on topic and says this is one great photography thread - and thanks for these pictures.
