Have you checked to see if the fuseholder for the 30 amp "hidden fuse" is melted? Before replacing the A/C control unit, it would be a really good idea to make sure that it's getting a proper voltage supply. And sometimes it will apparently happen that just pulling the fuse and reinserting it will reset the control unit and it will start working again.

Hi Jeff, Yes, this has come up a few times in the past. Often the problem is just a bad connection between the boards inside the unit. If the fuse (mentioned above) is not at fault you (or someone with some electronic knowledge if you are not confident in doing it) need to remove the unit, carefully disassemble and clean the interconnections inside. I had a dry solder joint on mine that was easily fixed.

You really need to do a search, some of the guys have posted some pretty detailed info on this.

Ricambi America has a small stock of brand new HVAC control units in stock if you do end up needing a new one. I believe this part is no longer in production.

Yes, several shops repair these units:http://tunemycar.com/ecu_exchange___repair.html
    http://www.boschautoparts.co.uk/pcPetr3.asp?c=2&d=1
(they repair all sorts of ECUs, from air/fuel to A/C)

You can also do quite a bit to repair them yourself: http://webpages.charter.net/aircover/348/1994Ferrari348Spider.html#AirConditioning

Mine flashed and acted funny for awhile (even worked intermittently) then went out altogether. It was the hidden fuse.

My a/c, clock, and heater gauges all do not work, no sign of anything.
When I turn on the key small lights open up but thats it. I assume this is the similar problem.
Jack can you post the picture or can email me to see where this hidden 30A fuse is, I have looked and cannot find. Are you saying we need to remove the entire front trunk carpet???

I was able to get at mine by partially removing the coaming weatherstrip, ventilation trim ring, and a few screws around the top of the fender well area. Then lifted up the liner gently - (I imagine the the cardboard or whatever they used to make the liner cracks/breaks easily?) and propped it up to gain enough access to do the fuse repair.

The recirculation flap boss is another story, however . . .

Well I found the fuse and it's in perfect shape.I already have the a/c unit out so tomorrow I'm gonna reinstall the unit and see if It works. I removed the fuse and reinstalled it.Otherwise I guess I'm gonna have to go for the bucks on a new unit.

While you're in there, just make sure that the fuseholder isn't melted. The fuse can be OK, but if the fuseholder is melted, it won't make proper contact. If it's OK, then the problem is somewhere else. Keep us posted.
