I ordered the Ferrari 126C2 (imola version) made by promocom. This model has no single piece of plastic. The model is made out of Carbon fibre, aluminium. PE, brass etc and has 2900 parts :)

Her are some pictures of the box and its contents

Oy my god, this is sensational! The 126 C2 is one of the most beautiful Formula 1 cars ever. Good luck building it.

Very nice kit. I think you have to paint Good Year on the tires, jut like they did on the real tires. This is as close to real as you will ever find in a kit. I was looking at the 312PB, but its just to big. I wish it was 1/12th scale. That MG
312PB needs a ton of work.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the nice words!

@GTE: a photo etch "Good Year" template is included

@Moriaan1: what I can see now is that the F40 is more complicated than the 126C2...it is rather straight forward so I think less hours are needed. The F40 is in its last stage of assembling..about 2 months or so :)

    The F40 is superb!

Are you using the regular windows?
I saw one with clear polystyrene windows, which looked perfect!

The door windows will be new: lexan sliding windows. The front- and engine compartment window will be original. But with some polishing and " parket plus " the windows will be crystal clear

    Hi Paulo,

The model is scale 1:8 manufactured by Pocher and enhanced with a transkit from Autograph. Pocher went broke about 10 years ago. Auction sites as Ebay are the places where you can get these models (build or unbuild)
In their basic form they look good and have a high level of detail. Building straight from the box give a good result but it looks very plastic. When you build and paint the model it looks much better and with the limited transkit you get a "real look"
My collection is rather small :) I started with modelling again after 16 years and this is one of my first models. Until yesterday I spent 11 months and 408 hours on building this car so my collection will not grow very fast :)

Reminds me of my student years in Utrecht when I used
to make F1 Tamiya kits. Mind telling us how much the
    126c costs ?

Promocom did a great job with the C2. I saw it for the first time at the Novegro show in 2004. This must have been an tremendous research effort. Also a great risk to make all parts from the materials of their 1:1 counterparts. One remark I could have was the nose part of the cowling. It looked a little flat to me. Of course this must be possible to correct (with polyester).
I also saw the 312 PB, which looks as mentioned somewhat to large. Still a great modelling project.
Mind you that the engine is also separately available as a kit and makes a great show piece.

By the way, any news on Promocom or A&G Modelli their 1/43rd kits?

    Enjoy!

Berry manzoni told me he had the help of one the designers of the car and it is sanctioned by Ferrari. So I think original drawings were involved. I have no further knowledge of other developments.

Here I already told the story about the purchase of this brilliant model

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265939

I really don´t expect to see one single part so with the help of other customers who send me pictures, drawings (and even parts) I started scratching the missing parts.

I started with the gearbox the most completed part to reproduce. Red are the missing parts of the gear house

The shapes of the parts are rather complicated so I started with a drawing based on pictures.

Also I made my first scratched part: the cover of the gear house. The white plastic is a bit faded :)

As a kind of preparation before the real build I will successively replace the missing parts with my "own work" :D

    regards

    Ton

Sad to hear the parts are missing, but it's always amazing to see your handiwork in creating the right thing. This looks like another great project. Taking a break from the 250?
