That's pretty much it for F1 I have a few more dups of the same cars, and a bunch of Camel GT car stuff from 1975, but that's all Porsches and Corvettes. MAybe I'll post one or two and see who likes 'em. Dave
All I really remember clearly is it rained like crazy Friday and Saturday. I think Sat was rained out. Then Sunday, weather cleared and off they went. Took my 240Z and discovered it's top speed on the way to the Glen, while getting my doors blown off by a Z28. I think it was our 'Bago on fire next to your Nova down in the Bog, wasn't it? Yep, those sure were the days.............
Yes, Saturday was a washout. The only guy crazy enough to drive in that downpour was Vittorio Brambilla. The rest stayed in the garage. We spent the whole day in my friend's van. It was so bad one of our buddies and his uncle drove back to Michigan that afternoon and skipped the race all together. Sunday turned out alright, though, and it was worth the wait.
Hey that was my first F1 race as well - 8 years old, Dad got tickets at the start/finish line. I'll post pictures on Monday (James Hunt crossing the finish line with both fists in the air; the 6-wheel tyrrell etc). Does anyone remember the Lear Jet that buzzed the track right before the race? It went right down the front straight about 100 yards above us. Insane!! What an impression that race made on me. Thanks! Kevin
Man, these bring back the memories. This is before they painted the Armco blue!!! Giles and Brambilla were the only ones who did laps, but I remember Jody did one or two laps and gave it up. We rented a motorhome and did that race up right. Normally, it was a tent on the hard ground! I'd go again in a minute though. Remember the guys who brought the VW engine blocks to burn in their bonfire? The flames would blind you.
