It may be different on a 2.7 car?

 

From the above link, it seems that if you have a pair of Check Engine lights (one for each bank of cylinders) they would go on then off during engine startup.

 

It’s hard to say from what was said. One person wasn’t sure and one person had to put bulbs in to make the lights work. No bulbs may be standard on Euro cars: 348 instrument binnacles may have few variations to save money on the production line. They may be like the 355. My 355 has a tyre pressure warning light bezel, but no 355 was ever fitted with that system, so there is no lamp. I can’t recall if the wiring was included inside the binnacle.

I think we need more comments from Euro owners to be sure.

 

hello guys! in this weekend i did several tests and maybe i solved the problem in the easiest way:

I turned on the car when it was cold and it didn't go well; I immediately tried to work on the main relays ( fuel pump and injectors), inverting several relays and I found out that the relay of the injection control of cylinders 5-8 didn't go well; I replaced it with a new 30A Fiamm relay, and the car started immediately! to be sure that the problem was him, I did 2 starts with the new one and it went, I put the old one back and it didn't start; I put the new one back and it went even when it was hot or after 20 minutes of stop!

now everything seems to be ok, i will do a short test drive anyway!

 

Interesting. The relay provides power directly to lots of engine sensors and devices on the left bank, but I noticed it also puts power on two LH Motronic (2.7) ECU pins. I wonder if one of these pins then provides power to the crank sensor? This is a third power source for the ECU.

 

online I find only 20/30A bosch Relay;

the original metal one is 30A

do you think I can put the 20/30 or 30/40 plastic that are now on the market?

 

I should try to read well the wiring diagram with an electrician who knows the car (douring the service)

 

Now that you car is working well, for the record, when you start the engine are there 2 red Check Engine lights?

 

It should be in the last subsection of Engine Ignition/Fuel Control: “Diagnostics”.

The coils have a different impedence to the other relays.

 

All those relays the 30 plus years old I replaced every relay in my car with new ones.

exactly that's what I want to do, buy them all new so I don't have to worry about it; I've seen that it's better to put relays with this number: 0 332 019 140

Of course I can't find them online

 

I have a post called foot panel relays or something where I lay out how I did it. There are other relays with different part number with the exact same spec that work.

There are companies that sell compatible relays even with same part number however they are cheap Chinese knockoffs and quality is suspect. I have a drawer full of them.

Reading your post another user reported this:

""TE" means Tyco. Bosch had a couple of equivalents to their old 0 332 014 140: 0 332 019 140 and 0 332 209 168 but these are also hard to find. These relays a re a bit special as they are "low pull-in voltage" type, i.e. they have stronger solenoid coils and can engage at as low as 7 volt. I found out that one, possibly fairly new, Bosch equivalent is 0 332 209 136 which is GM p/n 90491314. This GM p/n is also manufactured by other relay manufacturers like: Hella 4RD 007 794-05, Siemens V23134-A52-X237 ant Tyco (TE) V23234-A0002-X031 (or X032) which has even lower (better) pull-in voltage of 6.5 volt . I do not have the specs for the Tyco relays (4) you got for the fuel pumps and injectors but I presume they are similar to the Tyco number I mentioned."




in your opinion is it better to use the BOSCH 151 or the TYCO X031 which has a pull-in voltage 6.5?

Ok, then I reread both discussions, the best thing with the availability now on the market I think is for all BOSCH 4113 (the 9 equal) there go the corresponding that you reported as BOSCH 151, for the 4 of the pumps and injection (CDNL) that have as original part 4140, should be replaced with the tyco X031 (which have a pull-in less) the rest always as per your post

 

Hi guys, yesterday I checked what you asked me about the lights on the instrument panel: when I turn the key before turning on the engine, two lights light up with the words "1-4 low" and "5-8low" as soon as I turn on the engine, all the lights are off.

 

Low or Slow?

These are the SLOW DOWN lights (related to catalytic converter overheat)

So no CHECK ENGINE lights …or the bulbs have been removed.

 

Slow sorry, no engine no light, I hope it is because there is no problem!

 

Hey guys I am following this thread with much enthusiasm as I'm looking to replace my 4 fuel related relays just on principle. However all I'm finding is used ones on ebay....where are you sourcing these.....specifically the Tyco
V23234-A0002-X031 or its bosch equivalent?
