You have got to be kidding Fiorano lap times (Euro versions) - 328 - 1 min 44 seconds 348 - 1 min 37 seconds The biggest increase in on track performance in Ferrari's history, it took from 348 till the F430 to make the same step as they made from 328 to 348. A 348 is as close to an F40 in on track lap time as it is to a 328. In the UK our Classic race series allows the Mondial T to race along side the 328s but not the 348s - they are excluded. The 328 is one of the few cars in at least a similar price bracket that I'd change for my 348, love 'em. But saying the performance is the same or the 328 may just 'pip' the 348 is total and utter tosh. It isn't close. And if someone wrote that when writing a book about how good the 328 was, they were 'mistaken' (read lying through their teeth). I've driven both before choosing and it wasn't close. Numerous comparisons have been done and it isn't close. It's nothing to do with bhp to weight - the 348 has more torque over a larger band, it has a lower Cd, a wider track, lower CofG........ That said, I almost bought a 328 - beautiful cars.

Exactly! A :07 second a lap advantage is HUGE. In a 30 lap race it would take the 348 just 14 laps to put the 328 a lap down, and by the end of the race the 328 would be 2 laps down to the 348. Mind you that is on a STOCK 348. Modify a 348 and the performance advantage get even WIDER.
