Hello F-chatters! As you all know, next year will be 20th anniversary of F50, so I decided to write up big article which will be released in March. At the moment, I have 5 pages (A4) of text and I would like to ask you to confirm me so informations regarding this car. Other thing I would like to include in this article is interview(s) with owner(s) of F50, is there someone who would like to be part of article? Interview would be in the written form, I dont mind using Private Messages system there on forums, e-mail or any other way you would prefer. So there is list of things that I need to have confirmed: - What is the weight of hardtop/softtop? I heard that softtop weights around 2 kilograms, hardtop 7 kilograms. - As far as I know, 380 F50s were made in total, is it truth? Are numbers 12 prototypes/pre-production and 19 post-production F50s right? - Colours 302 Rosso Corsa, 8 Rosso Barchetta, 31 Giallo Modena (or is it Giallo Fly as I read somewhere?), 4 Nero Metallico, 4 Argento Nurburgring. Are these numbers correct? - Destination 54 for Italy, 163 for rest of Europe, 56 for US, 55 for Far East. Again, are these numbers correct? Was rest of them for other parts of the world? - Was number of the first chassis 99999 (1/349) and the last one 107240 (349/349)? - Original price 378 000 Euro/329 000 Pounds/$560 000? - One F50 was owned by Michael Schumacher, who were some other famous owners? - How many of them are owned by Sultan of Brunei? Is 9 correct number? - From what I heard, F50 Bolide was offered to Sultan of Brunei by Pininfarina, but he declined? Is it truth? Who owns this car now? - Are there some photos of production? Ive found only 2. - Has F50 won any important awards? - Is it truth that after first crash of Arts F50 GT 001 Ferrari repaired this car and when it gave it back to the owner, it was lighter (-45 kilograms) and it had higher horsepower (+150 HP)? Anybody knows whats the actual mileage of this #001 F50 GT? Thank you for your help! If you have any interesting informations regarding F50, feel free to let me know so I can include them in the article.
Hi Valerian. This artictle should tell you more chronological story about this F50 GT - what was improved and when, who participated as a test advisor etc. http://www.supercars. net/cars/641.html For me, it was a very nice reading and F50 GT was a very interesting project. Wish you a great journey into history of F50 and writing a great article. Greetz, [edit] I'll add one more page about GT: http://www.ferraris-online. com/pages/article.php?reqart=SCM_200003_SS
Hello kandi, thank you for your input. I know both articles and they sure are very interesting. I've found some useful informations in there. Greetings
The first production F50 has VIN ZFFTA46800103097, not 99999. Car was originally delivered to Jean Blaton, famous Belgian racer. It's really strange that you don't know about that in case you are writing article about F50.
Well, some sources were saying that first one was 103 097 (Rosso Corsa). But some are saying that 99 999 counts as first one. As I am checking it again, I missed one important detail, and that is that 103 097 has number 1/349. I know that 99 999 was used for testing and after production ended, it was delivered to Jacques Swaters. Thank you for your info carvad. EDIT: And as I am checking what I wrote so far, I even have 103 097 written as no.1...
There are twelve (12) F50 serial numbers before 103097. Here is 99999 at the 7 March 1995 Geneva Motor Show press day. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you Marcel for confirmation! Beautiful photo, can I use it in article with your permission? Of course I will give you all credits for it. Regards
Marcel, could you in this occasion stop speculation about 99999? There are a lot discussions about that and I do believe you know truth. Please enlighten us how much cars with s/n 99999 were made. One, two or?...
Great pics Bert, thanks for sharing! Same question as for Marcel, can I use them for the article (with giving you all credits for them)? If so, can you tell me when where they taken? And which circuit it is? Cheers
No problem. I made about 8 photo's of the car. I must look at the back of the photo's if there is a date on it, they where taken at Spa. I would say 1996
Hello Olivier, thank you for another inside to the 90's! Will make sure to include it in the article. Cheers
Article will be published in March 2015 which is exactly 20 years after world premiere of F50. If onebody knows answer to these questions, it would be highly appreciated. - What is the weight of hardtop/softtop? I heard that softtop weights around 2 kilograms, hardtop 7 kilograms. - Colours – 302 Rosso Corsa, 8 Rosso Barchetta, 31 Giallo Modena (or is it Giallo Fly as I read somewhere?), 4 Nero Metallico, 4 Argento Nurburgring. Are these numbers correct? - Destination – 54 for Italy, 163 for rest of Europe, 56 for US, 55 for Far East. Again, are these numbers correct? Was rest of them for other parts of the world? - One F50 was owned by Michael Schumacher, who were some other famous first-hand owners? - How many of them are owned by Sultan of Brunei? Is 9 correct number? - From what I heard, F50 Bolide was offered to Sultan of Brunei by Pininfarina, but he declined? Is it truth? Who owns this car now? - Are there some photos of production? I know every owner got book with photos of building process of their car, it's very difficult to find some online. - Has F50 won any important awards? Cheers
NO. The car has less than 1,000km on it, roughly, as the car has no odometer. It does however have less than 10 hours on the last rebuild. The first time the car was crashed it was not lightened by Ferrari nor was the horsepower increased. The car however is now substantially lighter than when it left Ferrari's hands. PM me if you want details. Art is a friend of mine and I know the car very well.
If you're interested in pictures, I gather the ones I found on this Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/La-Ferrari-F50/494492780632244
