This is from the Special Project and Concept Car forum… Auction information at http://www.rmsothebys.com
I am aware that Ferrari have always been litigious (especially in the USA) and carefully control use of the brand. Two thoughts, 1 - RM Sothebys have recently connected with Ferrari via their partnerships with Canossa events which might be making some difference. 2 - as part of the Canossa tie in I wouldn't be surprised if they are enforcing certain Classiche tie ins for RM Sothebys Ferrari offerings like they attempted to do with the Maranello sales from 2007-09. Its all about the Benjamins.
Help me out. I'm looking at Modulo models, right? I have a 1/43 Modulo by Andre Marie Ruf from years ago.....I don't need another one. What is being auctioned here? The actual 1:1 car, or several scale models of Modulo? Computer generated models? I cannot image JG would ever part with it given the fact that he turned it into a runner.
Non-fungible token - Wikipedia so basically you are buying the ownership of a digital file (which might be already widely accessible). Personally I don't get it - but my generation is clearly not the targeted buyers group.
I’d rather invest in cryptocurrency than NFTs. I don’t understand the mechanics of either, but at least the investment argument for crypto is rational. But back on topic, I’m still curious as to why the word “Ferrari” isn’t mentioned in the lot description, unless it’s been updated. One would think the cachet associated with the name would make the auction house inclined to use it, so what’s to be made of it other than Ferrari has prohibited it…..but Ferrari owns pininfarina, and…….. it’s badged as Ferrari…. Pininfarina is not owned by Ferrari. Modulo was a concept car by Paolo Martin of Pininfarina to showcase modular design. It was based on a Ferrari 512S chassis and was never intended to run on the road in its shown form. Paolo Martin would have penned different aspects of the modular design had he intended it to be used on the road.
Thank you for the correction. I had in mind Ferrari taking design in house. Here’s a link to the auction lot description for anyone interested. http://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pf22
I can almost hear the auctioneer: “Now, ladies and gentlemen ! Our next lot does not include or involve any smoke & mirrors. You’ll be actually bidding on a virtual version of them !!!”
All the guys I knew at RM have gone to Broadarrow (I think that’s what it’s called….sounds like a 1950’s western)..….otherwise I’d be giving them some **** about this.
Man who paid $2.9m for NFT of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet set to lose almost $2.9m Crypto entrepreneur Sina Estavi made headlines in March 2021 when he paid $2.9m for an NFT of Twitter boss Jack Dorsey’s first tweet. But his efforts to resell it have run aground, with a top bid of just $6,800 as of Thursday. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/apr/14/twitter-nft-jack-dorsey-sina-estavi .
In Dutch this is called "gebakken lucht". The literal translation is "fried air": you get the strong impression of something really wonderful, but in reality it is thin air (nothing).
here is is less than nothing better invetsed this money in germany in beer. then you can drink every day some of them, and when all is empty you bring the empty bottles with the cases back to the dealer and get a lot of money back - bottle deposit
Science sans conscience n'est que ruine De l'ame. Old French saying which can be applied to any new technology needing to make sense and be useful. If not it should not exist, being totally absurd and inane NFT= monumental fail like crypto monopoly money.
