Just a curiosity, and if anybody can cure it I will be glad. I found my 328 loocking into www.ferraribuy.com site. The funny thing is that the owner never placed any advert in it! How the car ended in there is a mistery to me (and to the previous owner...).
As this site seems to advertise the widest range of Ferrari cars, does anybody know who runs this site and how?
    Ciao

I heard they researched all the ads across the country in newspapers etc.... and then pulled them into their site, so it looks like the ad was placed with them.

Yes, they go to other sources to build their ads. Probably from FerrariAds.com too. Car locators will do this too, they'll try to sell your car without you knowing it, if they find a buyer, then they'll contact you and try to get a cut. "I found a buyer for your car at $40k if you give me 10%"

Some sites also do the leg work and repost the car just to get traffic on their pages. Those clicks on ads are VERY big money.

Thanks for the clarifications. In my case Ferraribuy had no financial benefits from the transaction and, with no sponsor on the site, I cannot understand why thye do all this work. As no other transaction carries money to them, again: why? Is Ferrari behind it just trying to give a service to the owners who are trying to sell their car and to potential buyers? This should be the only logical answer...
    Ciao

The makers of FerrariBuy.com are the same persons as the makers of www.classicscars.com. I know that because I receive every month at letter with the sales of the month of classicscars.com. And when Ferraribuy.com started I immedialty also receive a letter from FerrariBuy, and a friend told me that the same persons are after the 2 sites.

But I noticed that there is no button to clic to place an ad. So meloyelo could be right that they look for ads in magazines.

Ah hah! That explains why my car (identified by serial #) was listed for sale on Ferraribuy.com over 3 months after I purchased it! And why the seller didn't respond to an inquiry when I was trying to find out what the heck was going on.

Again, why? Ferraribuy has no sponsor, no percentage on the sold items (at least from me), so why somebody should invest time and money to run such an omnicomprehensive site?

Instead of building it and they will come, maybe they're trying to get you to come and then they'll build a pay classified site.

Well, perhaps you are right. As far as I am concerned, I only have to thank them!

Remember - web marketers actually profit if you hit their site a lot. They do so by selling the "good will" of the address to someone based on the amount of traffic they have already built up. The low class sleeze ones put porn stuff on their pages then claim lots of legitimate clicks. Not that Ferrari info is not car porn ;)

I just receive an email from PorscheBuy.com, and here is a phrase of the mail:
"Advertise your Porsche and your parts for no cost.
Buy your Porsche directly from the seller."

It looks like you can put an ad for free if you are selling a porsche.

I also received an email from PorscheBuy.com, then my inbox filled up with people requested to be be removed from the P-buy mailing list. Wasn't too impressed,

I've now also received some requests from other people to remove them from the mailing list. It looks like there is something going wrong, you see you have always problems with Porsches :)

It doesn't look like a succes, if you see how many people wants to be removed fromt the mailing list :)

I've received several of these too. Hacks me off as I'm not a Porsche guy and it's being sent to my office email, not personal email.

Porsche used to have a policy where they wouldn't allow their name to be used in any non-official Porsche website addresses. Either they aren't as striingent or this site will be closed down soon.
