Thanks Dave... I never executed a change in online theme, and I have no idea how to switch back and forth. Frankly, I have more important things to do than to unleash pain unto my brain in some sort of effort to embrace the usefulness of such a switch or to learn how it’s done on my own. The online format is very cumbersome, especially since I need to wait after hitting “reply” for the text to take its time to populate before I begin typing my reply; however, I’ll soldier on forward, because the do-gooders (sorry Rob, not you ) will probably take your old online theme away soon anyway.
OK, when weather stops/raining/snowing/freezing etc and I get the car out I'll get some pictures and have a play. Appreciate the tip. (If you cant fix it with a hammer, I'm not interested!)
Dave - I don't mean this reply to sound like a jerk but I know it will.... The software update was needed - yeah, sucks but that's the fact. The new system has a lot of benefits and sure some things are less than awesome but it's pretty darn good - if I have time later I'll make a list. The guys continue to correct bugs and make changes for the better and it has absolutely gotten better. Life is full of investments and if you feel this site is valuable, it won't take much time to learn it - many are here to help. If you are too bother to do that, with respect, the site is just not that important to you.
Weird. Are you using the new F-Chat, or the old/blue style? I'm in the new, gray style and it doesn't show at all for me. Google Chrome on a Macbook Pro.
Yup, that's the deal. In new and Dark, I can't tell if text is in bold. In Blue, I can tell if I look really closely. In Old, text in bold shows up quite clearly.
As far as pics go....when I start a "How to " thread, or something that I know will have 5 pics in it...I type in a few lines of text, hit space bar twice, open my docs file, and then choose the pic and "copy" it, click back into the Fchat window and paste the photo right in, without using the "upload a file" box. And, yes, I do 80% of my Fchatting on my desktop at home with a big monitor, but the copy & paste option works very easy. Gary
I've gotten used to it (using 'old style') but I can't identify a single 'improvement'. The alerts amuse and annoy me in about equal parts! The trophy stuff is just childish. And the important bit (search function to find some long forgotten topic ) is as crappy as before. Also how to search a member name that you can't quite remember (ie scroll down list)?
But I appreciate its existence and all the good work the moderators put in, thanks! I won't be happy if we're forced to 'new style'...
If you’re using the old style, you shouldn’t notice as many “improvements”. You can turn off alerts and ignore trophies. Search is much much more powerful, but you do have to learn a new approach like Advanced and also Relevance-Recent. Searching usernames you just have to remember first couple letters and it brings up all users that match. Old system did none of that.
Sorry Rob, I am still using the old format. But, I can see the new underpinnings in how things perform. Overall, it was a good change. I know it is tough and no one likes change, plus this is a tough crowd, but you are through the worst of it. Good job.
Thanks but I do most of that now. I'd still like a members list I could scroll - often I have no idea of the name I'm looking for, but reading it flicks the switch.
agree ---- using the old style too, but that is simple because the new plat form does not browse good in Edge. We have a policy set of not being able to use anything else in the office and since I like to read the forum mostly on my work when getting some coffee. I don't want to start a discussion which is best to use. I just think as a provider you need to make sure it WORKS on ALL BROWSERS. users have simply no choice sometimes and putting a message to use a specific browser is childish for money making platform. I do like the bulk upload but it is a very pity my album/garage went away with my current subscription.
The new site is still too busy, too many things, features, likes, conversations, thumbs ups and downs, etc. Useful and versatile but I don't visit as much as I used to unfortunately :-(
I like it. Only request I have is for the threads created by users on the ignore list to be visible. Even if I don't want to see their posts, there are always posts within their threads by users that I do want to read.
Technical question: how does one REPLY to a conversation? I don't see any kind of "reply" option. Oh, and this thread, or one like it, should be "pinned" at the top of the forum.
Replying to multiple quotes is kinda buggy, and editing posts are certainly different than previously. I was quite proficient with BB Code, but I'm still transitioning to this new text editor (having only a few posts since the change over).
