    I Remember when this movie came out, we lived here in chicago and my father has a 1959 series 1 spider (pre california spider) and he looked me after we watch the movie.. Said, Don't even think about it, i would kill you!

    It makes me think of the 'Farnsworth House', which Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed and constructed. For those of you that haven't been to 'Farnsworth House', you should go!

    Just received the press release for the property from the Realtor which includes the designers and some history. Looks like there's a Farnsworth House design connection.

    "Cantilevered over acres of wooded ravines, this award winning steel and glass home was
    designed by renowned architect A. James Speyer-a protégée of Mies van der Rohe- for the Ben
    Rose family in 1953.

    Twenty years later the steel and glass pavilion, designed by David Haid, was added to the
    property to be used by the owner for an artist’s studio and a showcase for his famous
    collection of European sports and touring cars, eventually becoming the setting for the 1980’s
    movie, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, where the red Ferrari is catapulted through the glass walls of
    the pavilion to the bottom of the ravine.

    As secluded as a country estate, both buildings were designed to incorporate the incredible
    natural light and ever changing vistas of the ravines, though located only minutes from
    Highland Park’s business district featuring the finest shops and restaurants.

    The home’s interior has been authentically recreated, using many of the original furnishings
    and artifacts, by Diane C. Redding, prominent interior designer and space planner, who has
    researched old photos, architectural records and historical data to showcase this amazing
    property."

    Yep, Farnsworth House is built on pedestals and all of the exterior walls are glass (a voyeurs dream)!

    It's a great day trip, and you'll get a guided tour of the house and it's grounds.

    ohh, I would almost fly up for this. One of my top 5 movies and the garage fascinates me, not only for the movie connection, but it stands alone as art without the fame.

    Anyone else who is interested in meeting and driving together to Cameron's house, I will be at the North bound side of the O'Hare Oasis off of 294 from 11:15 AM to 11:25 AM.

    John, Good luck to your son.

    As for the route, I was thinking we would take 294 N to Willow, E on Willow to Hibbard, N on Hibbard to Tower, E on Tower to Sheridan Rd, N on Sheridan Rd to Beech St, Left on Beech to #370.

    Does anyone know if there is any construction along this route?
