I had my Dino 308 gt4 since 1985, purchased in Rome had it shipped over, loved the car and it was like a part of the family!! and unfortunately lost it to flooding from hurricane Sandy.
Only 9" of water but enough to soak the carpets in salt water, called insurance and the car was considered totaled, bought back the car from insurance and listed it as a flood damaged car for sale locally in NY,.
A mechanic purchased the car fixed a few things and listed it on ebay within one week without listing any water damage.
The gentleman that wound up with the car contacted me and wanted to know some history on the car, I felt bad to tell him that it had been in a flood.
He wrote me back recently telling me that my ex car was the FIRST 308 gt4 ever made
my car was always registered as a 1976 model though, vin # F106AL07202
    Could it be?

What was the SN? Do you have a pic of the factory door badge and or steering wheel number plate. That would make it easier to confirm. The first GT4 should be a 1973. I am very sorry to hear about your car. I think you should have kept it though..... I was on a FCA event where they drove us through a river about 10 years ago, have not done another ride since then of course that was fresh water, even though it did no damage. I spent a long time cleaning it up.....

The number you give looks more like an engine number however the NNO Production numbers list here does show 07202 as the first GT4 in 1973 - photos of the actual chassis plate would help resolve - that it is a car of Italian origin obviously helps the possibility

After the flood the leather started to come apart on the steering wheel from humidity I guess, I ripped out most of the carpets to try and dry them.
I wanted to get the car repaired but my mechanic advised me to sell it, he said there would be troubles in the future from salt water damage
I was very depressed at losing it but I did get some insurance money and scraped up a little more money and just purchased a 1986 328.Get it next week. I wonder if its the first 328!!
    haha

Urban's book has it listed as the first. Produced in 2/74.

    Pretty cool!

Geez Stefano...you had the FIRST GT4! According to the GT4 registry, 7202 was actually built in 1973. Chances are that it wasn't actually publicly sold/titled until '76.

You need to let Peter R. (webmaster 'at' dino-gt4-registry.com) know as much history on the car as you have, so he can put it into the GT4 Registry.

    Totally wild.

As for your soon-to-arrive 328, car 64567 is not the first. 58735 was the first customer-delivered car. Mine is 61613, which was built in Dec '85, so yours was built much later in the model year -- probably in the late spring or early summer, but it is hard to tell, since cars didn't seem to get finished exactly in order as numbered. I don't have the photo of the tag on the door sill, but that will tell you exactly when it was completed.

The interior would seem to be the right colors for the original car too.
The wheel you have looks to be the same shape as the "Jackie Stewart" wheel by momo. I am not sure if this was the original wheel or not since your car was the first one, but obviously it isn't the factory wheel for most GT4s.
Sorry about the flood damage, man. It's a true pity.

I want my car back sob sob, I do still have the original rear badge though after it broke I bought another but the holes in the car didn't match so I put a Ferrari badge on instead
It always sits in front of me on my computer monitor stand.
    This will not be sold!

I too was asleep. I saved this auction while it was going on, but I never checked the VIN as I usually do. This is THE one that got away! Sorry Lektronimo!

I emailed him on FLife before it went to the mechanic. Had I known it was the first GT4 I would have scooped it.

It is the one that got away, who has an auction end Jan 2? I was still in recovery mode. Though the thought of trying to convince my wife the logic of having 2 gt4's helps me deal with it... As well as all eyes on me to be the responsible party to care for number 1.

I'm happy at least that it went to a good guy, Al is a true Gt4 lover, this is his fifth Gt4,
and He wound up with the holy grail of GT4s, I would have liked to see the expression on his face when he found out it was the first!
I've been thinking about this all week, all those years I owned the car, always thinking it was a 1976 model, all my documents showed 1976, If I knew it was an early car I would have looked up the history.

9" of water is not a flood and the carpets got wet from a small hole in the fiberglass tub as you can see it runs and drives fine

And I take the 2 second one so delivery it cash in hand

    Im not joking.

    Your a funny guy!
