Interesting that it has Barchetta modulars on it. Using up leftover stock?

Tom- No, someone put them on her. The 19" modular were available by the time she was produced. They are mentioned in the first 575M sales brochure.

To each his/her own but I'd rather listen to the music that starts under the hood and have more trunk space with lower weight. I mostly use the radio only when parked. Do you guys think the audio equipment affects the car's value much?

Probably not. Easy to remove. Same for the funky carpet mats. Besides which, it has an off button just like the OEM stereo. That is how mine is always set.

Incidentally, 126971 was the 3rd US 575M, 126970 was the 2nd, but I do not have an Assembly Number on that one.

Beautiful colour combo. Too rarely seen in the UK.

I love the exterior colour but not sure if I'm a fan of the blood red interior as a match to that exterior. Personally I would have preferred shade of tan or even black, but that's just me.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but the dealer has a history. Caveat Emptor. There's no place near SLO to get a PPI done, AFAIK, but it's a definite must.

I'm reviving this thread - this car resurfaced in the Classifieds last month, and I'm currently in the process of purchasing it. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/575m-f1.607771/

The current owner seems to have taken the car back closer to stock; the subwoofer and aftermarket head unit are gone, the door panel speakers are still there, the 18" modulars (which I confirmed weren't a factory option on the car) have been replaced with stock 18" 575M wheels. Unclear what the situation with the floor mats are, but I'm not particularly concerned. The dealer sale posting from 2016 suggests that it has a Tubi exhaust, I don't know about that either.

The car is currently at Ferrari of Costa Mesa getting a new clutch, clutch position sensor, and regular service. Anything in particular I should ask about?

My U.S.-spec 2002 575M (serial #126970) has assembly number 44120, so I believe it is the first 575M built for the U.S. market.

Lowest serial number is 126969, but its AN was 44157, so yours was first on the assembly line. No telling which one got completed first unless yours says Dec 2001 on the data plate.

I made a comment on that other thread but here as well....just as a datapoint from the registry in Nathan's book....

the book notes the first US Delivered 575 was allegedly 126896 R/C over tan (noted as a 2001) then there were the following...
    +) 126898 R/C over tan (noted 2001)
    +) 126899 R/C over tan (noted 2001)
    +) 126969 Nick/White Out's prior car Grigio Titanio/Bordeaux (noted 2002)
+) 126970 Blu Pozzi over Cuoio (noted 2002) with red calipers, shields, and daytonas

    Eric:

I am an advocate of using the Assembly Number, as opposed to the serial number, to determine a Ferrari’s build sequence.

The serial number is established when the purchase/production order is written but the Assembly Number is assigned as soon as the car starts rolling down the assembly line.

In short, the car doesn’t physically exist until the Assembly Number is assigned.

Does anyone have the Assembly Numbers for the above listed cars?

    many thanks,
    Alan

Your commentary seems correct/reasonable. The registry doesn't show the AN on those listed. Perhaps someone else has the info.

Alan- What date is on your data plate?

My assumption on the earliest US 575M is based on a technical bulletin which lists very early 575Ms that may have needed to have their Motronic ECUs replaced. Could easily have been earlier ones not on that list that were not initially sent to the US. In many cases Ferrari kept early versions of the 575M for further testing before updating them and selling them through normal channels. The first three 575Ms, 123761, 123764, and 123765 were retained by the factory for up to several years, updated to production standards and sold through favored dealers. 123761 even got a new engine and new assembly number.

Sounds like those earlier US 575Ms had December 2001 on their data plates. Not in my records, though, but mine are very limited.

Alan if you bought a limited carfax 3 vin search package you could run those cars and see where they are in the country (just an idea)…..

Since you have the chassis number you can back into the whole vin
