Just got the new Ferrari news with a nice owners club DVD included, lots of stuff on sprints conkers and other FOC events. So who from fchat was on it?
Fraid I was the one in blue at Curborough, still recommend it as the most worthwhile intro to hill climbs.
Get over it Steve. I didnt expect it to last. Saw the video today. Not bad video but a bit too promotional for my liking. Good quality footage though.
Steve, I received a complaint this morning about your post. Commercial posts are against the terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed up for Ferrarichat.com. The post you made was deemed as advertising a commercial organisation (the other site are charging and do compete for sponsors do they not?) Bluntly Steve, whilst everybody at Ferrarichat.com wishes all of you at the other site well, its not a Ferrarichat.com sponsor and Ferrarichat.com will not provide free advertising nor help recruit new members either by direct advertisement through posts or abuse of its membership lists and PM/Email facilities (pming new active users was a bit silly although the example I have was not from you) You are of course free to complain to Rob (as it’s already been discussed there’s not a great deal of point) or the other site can sponsor Ferrarichat.com or reach an agreement with Rob over cross promoting between the two sites
Getting the DVD this morning was a nice surprise, as I wasn`t aware of one in the pipeline. But then again I don`t always read every page of the mags, so perhaps I missed it. Very well produced, and I hope to see more in the future. (I can never have too much footage of moving Fezzas!)
cant see it making any difference as this site is mentioned daily by me on the other site think its a bit petty really as i will be wearing my FCHAT t-shirt at the meeting or drive out
Not opened mine yet. Is the DVD any good? On the fcars fchat point. Surely we can work together. I know there were issues at the outset but it is water under the bridge. After all we all share the same interest Not sure what Steve's post was but I am sure it was not offensive.
It was`nt offensive Malc...............merely Steve being Steve,no problem at all,i really don`t understand Andrew or Robs point in this.
Adrian As in my earlier post we recieved a complaint that it was commercial spam. It was advertising a commercial venture that isnt a sponsor or partner of Ferrarichat.com. FChat has rules which have to be enforced impartialy.(see how long you last in tesco's if you start telling people to shop at sainsbury's instead ) We've banned people for promoting websites and services in the past and will continue to do so, I'm not a hypocrite and do not want to be seen to have double standards. Even though Steve and I frequently don't see eye to eye he wasnt banned or even warned, all because he is who he is and is valued here on Fchat. A good example of how impartial the mods on fchat have to be would be when Allan Lambo was allowed back on after being banned for causing a few too many arguments, I wrote to Steve informing him of that and asking him to tell his friend Graham "512 tea arse" that if he wished to re-register he would be welcome (as long as he didnt cause trouble)
Two different examples Andrew; I went to the Asda in Horwich to pick up a prescription, they did not have a chemist but told me the nearest one was at Tesco across the way. A customer asked me to move some machinery that we did not have the specialist equpiment to do so,i gave him the number of a firm that did though. Both good customer relations. F-chat no longer gets slagged off on the other side and gets mentioned regularly. we`ll agree to differ ,no worries.
Back onto topic did anybody notice the white E plate Testarossa......could this be the same car that was in another thread?
Opened the mag now but I am holding off reading it as I am revising for my Solaris Cert which is hard going as it is as boring as hell. At least in a few weeks I can look forward to reading it, and watching the DVD.
It was a nice production and sold the club in a friendly manner. Maybe wont attract the hardcore street-racing element of owners but a step forward none the less.
I was impressed with the dvd , a nice surprise , there was too much talking for my liking and not enough action / driving , but then it was a freebie!
I think the DVD does a good job showing members, and prospective members, the reality of what they get for their money. Very hard to get it exactly right but I do think it shows how much there is in the way of events for FOC members to partake in and enjoy. At the end of the day it portrays lots of people enjoying their Ferraris. And isn't that what it's all about? I say WELL DONE!
I think this has been done due to the complaints on various websites about how crap the FOC is and lots of people have not renewed there membership this year its all a bit to late as i for one think it needs new board members as the FOC is still stuck in the 1980's and dont cater or care about the younger ferrari owners
from people who are not and have not been members! to paraphrase the old lottery ad "you've got to be in it to change it"
Hmm You are entitled to your own view. The DVD was done to promote club activities to current members and potential members. What is so wrong with that. I would have thought that was praiseworthy. As to your other points. As I said - you are entitled to your own view.
Francis I agree the DVD was a pleasant surprise, and being an active member, its a step in the right direction. Its actually got me interested in some of the driving events, but I really wish that the committee would have interviewed RO's, I mean all of them, people like Ralph who actually operate at grass roots and who don't have the cash to put their cars on the track. RO's are usually potential owners first point of contact so the DVD should have included some interviews about locally organised events - thats constuctive feedback - either way, still a positive move
