FOC Midwest will sponsor a tech session starting at 2PM Sunday April 2nd in Winnetka, IL. Mike Z, (Spike308) will be hosting the event in his new "mega sized garage". One of the challenges for the day will be to troubleshoot and correct a slow window issue Mike is having with his 308. This is quite a common problem with many classic Ferraris. If you are interested in attending please PM me for directions. This is an open event for all to enjoy. See you there, Dave
Count me in, Dave! Yes, I am, so far, pretty lucky in that my windows are not Tooo slow...yet. However, they Definitely are not as quick as any other cars that I have owned. Especially the Corvettes. Those windows breezed down in a flash. But when I was "Ferrari Shopping" years ago. I came across a couple 308's that were unbelievably slow. Thus, it is probably only a matter of time before mine get like that.
We should all learn how to do the (Dreaded.... ) 308 Belt Change sometime, too. Has anybody here ever done their own? I'm sure that it can't be too difficult. Just the point in learning the procedure, I would think.....
If you mean the timing belts and idler bearings that are replaced during a major maintenance or 30K yes, they have been changed by many 308 owners. Myself included. Usually many other components are replaced at the same time. The procedure is fairly straight forward but requires a number of hours & lots of patience. Major damage can happen to the engine's internals if the belts aren't set up correctly. Dave
Hey Mike.... I know how to fix that slow window..... Try WD40, if that doesn't work then use a hammer.... If it still doesn't work, get a bigger hammer.... Just kidding, see you that sunday..... Tod
You can count me in. I was hoping to be able to bring the Mondial, but she took a turn for the worst this week. I'm hoping she'll be done...guess we'll see. If not, I'll just drive something else.

I'll bring a tape of the Melbourne GP and one of Jesse James' Monster garage. Mike, some food (sandwiches? pizza?) would be great. FOC will reimburse you.

Looks like we are on for tomorrow. Hopefully, the weather forecast will change for the better. Predictions are severe thunderstorms, so if you are a bit concerned about your baby, use your daily car to get to Mike's. See you there, Dave
Sorry... just back to Chicago. Weather.com sounds like the worst weather will be overnight, kind of windy tomorrow, but I'm sure that it will change.... it is 12:30 am and really calm! I'm still game.... hope to see all of you!
Thanks Dave for this great hands-on approach on how to speed up the windows. Well presented (even I understood it, mostly...) with lots of good hints and tips. And thanks to Spike for the Monstagarage. We should do this again, but maybe next time we install a kitchen appliance in the co driver's seat. Wait, no, somebody did that already? Hmm, nevermind. And thanks to all who came and watched Dave getting his hands dirty. Nothing is more fun that watching a man busting his chops while eating some chow.
Thanks... At least now Mike won't have to wait five minutes to raise his window. This event went really well, and I think we should have another this season. Many thanks to Mike for hosting the event. Dave
