On my '88 Mondial the front end starts shaking enough to make me want to slow down at around 85-90 mph. Do I need my wheels balanced or the front end aligned ? My car has only 7000 miles on it and never was in an accident. Thanks for any advice.

That's usually a wheel balance issue, rather than alignment, especially on a low-mileage car.

Only 7,000 on the car? How old are the tires and how long does it sit?
I bought a restored Porsche 356a years ago, everything had been gone thru on the suspension, but I had the same experience as you. At about 75 mph the front end would shake (more so than usual for that car). It turned out that the car had sat in the same spot for so long (previous owner) that the tires had distorted.

    I would start with balancing.

Tie rod ends if your wheels are balanced. Check for wheel bearing play too.

    Check the lug bolts.

Yeah I know it sounds silly, but a fews years ago someone had the wheel come off his 355, after it and just come back from the DEALER.
