so I bought this fuel pressure gauge with the connector like the pic below

it screws into the test port on the fuel rail perfectly.

But there's no pressure when I start the car or put key to "on" position.

after unscrew the connector, i see no fuel residue or smell around the area.

Is it possible the connector's nipple is too short to touch the nipple on the test port valve?

    what do you guys use?

Maybe my old eyes are tired but does yours have a metal pip in center to depress the schrader valve? If the schrader valve is not depressed no fuel will be released, similar to a bicycle tire valve

    Take a look at mine

mine does have a metal thing to depress the schrader valve.
Maybe it is way too withdrawn inside so it doesn't touch it?

Would you tell me what make/model is your gauge?

    Merry Christmas!

    I get very accurate readings.
For the 360 I've removed all the 'extra stuff' from the pouch as none are needed. The long drain tube makes it easy not to spill fuel in the engine bay after testing.

You must be cranking the engine over (trying to start it) or have the engine running in order to have the fuel pumps running to check fuel pressure. If you want to check pressure with the engine off, you have to jump pins 30 and 87 of the fuel pump relay sockets.

Also you can "unscrew" the center depressor with a pair of needle nose pliers if its not hitting the core. Only go a small amount at a time.

    THAT'S THE TICKET!

i use a long needle plyer to unscrew the nipple , and voila! it works and i got pressure, but i guess i unscrewed it too much and when I start the car, gas was oozing out of the connection area!

Hopefully you can just replace the core. That is easy. It only takes 1/8th of a turn on the depressor.

i think it is an adjustment issue, it isn't broken, i just unscrewed it too much

report: everything good. just mess with the gauge nipple's height by screwing and unscrewing it, u'll be good

but it raised one more problem

i always tested the fuel pressure when the car is cold. That is fearing if fuel spills it would catch fire.

now, after I tested the fuel pressure, there's no way to not to leak any fuel, sometimes a lot.
Another fact is that you have to start the car to have fuel pressure. Even if for 30 seconds of engine running, the header will be hot enough to be concerned.

How do you guys avoid that risk? by unscrew the fuel pressure gauge after the car went cold? That's the only way i can think of. Any other ways?

Good gauges have a way to bleed off the fuel into a container on the side. Thats what the clear hose in the photo is for.

Why are you testing the fuel pressure to begin with? Out of curiosity. Problem with the engine?

    CS cold start misfire.
check everything you can ever imagine( for 2 years), except:

    1. fuel pressure
    2. wiring integrity
    3. timing
    4. compression/ leakdown

Look at the 2 pictures I posted above (#2 and #4). There is a release push valve and a lengthy tube to bleed off the fuel to a container away from the engine
