Reaching out to the brotherhood on people who have had either issues.
If you have could you please describe what happened on your car for symptoms.

some posts did not always have the symptoms but rather how to replace.

    thanks

Well I haven't tackled it yet but if the car sits for a while it is hard to start. I suspect it has to do with the fuel pressure regulators being 26 years old. When I finish my engine stand I am going to go through the entire fuel system and replace all the hoses, rebuild the pumps, and tackle that issue.

Some symptoms will be if the regulator diaphragm fails and let’s fuel into the vacuum hose
    1) running rich at idle

    2) flooding (no start)

    3) fowling spark plugs (wet with fuel)

    4) smelling fuel in the intake after the engine is off

This are a few thing there is more but these are easy to check

Next if the valve sticks closed

    1) loss of performance in mid to high range driving

    2) codes for running lean

    3) over heating when driving hard (most on hot days)

    4) engine knock (predestination do to high cylinder temperatures)

    Again just a few

And if the valve is stuck open

    1) loss of performance at idle, low rpm and speed (lack of response and sluggishness)

    2) fowling plugs if idling for long periods of time

    3) codes for running rich

    4) clogging CATS if idling for long periods of time and low rpm and speed

This are just a few there is more

If you have access to scan tool just look at short and long term fuel trims
Short should be close to 0 as possible +4 -4 is ok this is how the ecm corrects fuel after reading o2 sensors
long term numbers are what the ecm is going to off set the fuel term so that the short term doesn’t have to work as hard and keep the term in lower numbers (aka range) if u have low counts in both long and short this means that the ecm is taking fuel away because of running rich which can be from regulator

Again there is more but too much to type lol
