I spy Michael Schumacher, Todt, and Luca DeMontezemolo in the picture with the EVO FXX.

Did Schumi help to design and test the EVO ?

From what ive read he did a whole lot of testing with his at fiorano which was a big part of the Evo development.

    RTB,
Do you know if the tour will take you to california in 2008? I know everyone will say this but I would just love to get an upclose look at the fxx, atleast as close as I can get.

Thank you so much for all the reports this past year. Its been very interesting reading all your insight on the program. Good luck with your team in the new year.

May I ask you 2 questions you will know best?

There is a metallic blue cylinder installed at the right side of the engine compartment. What is it?

Second, will there be a chance to have you at the Nurburgring at Ferrari Racing Days, October 03. - 05.?

    Thanks, Jens

It must be some sort of gas reserve. Ie. nitrogen or Co2 to operate the valves or adjustable suspension.

Stored away from the engine to avoid the heat, (resulting in pressure expansion or variance).

Maybe, I'm guessing its some kind of compressed gas.

The plug for the air jacks is in the center of the cars rear end, just above the ground.

Sorry, but it's not for or to store compressed air. When you need the air jacks, your mechanic plugs a hose in the back end of your FXX (Pawlie said it allready, too) that feeds compressed air into the jacks.
As far as i know and can tell, it's an expansion tank for the radiator liquid (or is it in fact an oil container???, coz i saw a Shell logo on the top). On the photo you can see a clear tupe and markings for high and low.

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't actually know what the "blue thing" is!!

However, it's not in the engine bay of an Enzo!

Perhaps it has no function at all and Ferrari just gave us a brainteaser :D

However, thank you RTB and all other members for your input

RTB, awesome thread, thanks for all the info, its been a great read.
i know you might not be able to answer this question. but to others out there, surely if the car has balistic valves or other new tech, it wouldnt be much of a secret selling the cars to the public, the cars would have to be serviced by a local mechanic surely. the info would have to be accessable.

I just read this again in the Enzo crash thread and reminded me to ask a question.

Is it true that no-one was within 11 seconds of Schumacher at the Nurburgring in the FXX?? I realise he is one of the greatest drivers ever but I am surprised the gap was that large. Although when you consider its less than 1 second per corner I suppose it is quite reasonable. I would probably be scared before I got out of 3rd gear in the FXX.

No doubt people will get faster once they get more comfortable with the cars and tracks. Would be interesting to see the time differential between all the drivers.

The cars are mainly looked after at Maranello, and not local dealers!
