the project for Enzo car was in the basis called FX
so the FXX means better than an Enzo "the supreme" it s the raison
that they called it FXX.

Why put the productionnumber in the name, when you don't even know exactly how much you are going to build anyway?

 

I have no idea what I'm talking about because I have no sources, but here is my take on it.

F40

F50

F60 (Enzo)

F70 (Currently FXX)

Make sense? But why not just call it F70 from the start?

 

But the Enzo is NOT the F60 nor has Ferrari ever called it the F60, so no it does not make sense

There has been no F60, and certainly no F70.

Journalists started calling the upcoming Enzo the F60 long before the car was released, as that is what they expected the name would be. They were wrong, and those who continue to refer to the Enzo as the F60 are even more wrong.

...and even if the Enzo Ferrari *were* the F60, the FXX would hardly be an "F70." I think it is more of an Enzo Evoluzione or Enzo Competizione...not an entirely new generation of car. It's all a moot point, though, as the EF is not an F60.

I might be compete wrong, but thinking about, i remember seeing an article in a magazine about the rumour of the Enzo and they said ferrari was calling it the FXX project (Not the F60), it was in Autocar i think a few years back. I really wish i had the magazine still. I am almost positive that was they were calling it. Maybe ferrari just uses the FXX name on its project, since the actual FXX is a mule for future development of the next supercar.
