Hi Kerry, just looked at you always interesting upgrading 330/PF sides. But the car in question is not there. btw all interior mirrors are painted black. Nice weekend C.
Hi, thanks. when I got the file on 0048 out I realised this. The front end is so damaged I didn't recognise this right away. tongascrew
Marcel, Can you post this article here. Also do you have pics etc on the restoration we could see. thanks tongascrew
Now, I'm not so sure of the blue 4HL car being 5415. The pictures I got from Marcel in 2003 were labeled 5415, but after looking at my records, I found an article that Marcel wrote an article (w/Bluemel) for the Ferrari UK magazine published in Fall 1982, just after his visit. The article has a list of the cars seen: Type Color Remarks 166 MT Touring Berlinetta Red 1948, Touring body no. 3425, chassis and engine no, 0048M, dismantled. 250 GT Drogo Red Chassis no. 3405, engine no. 2301, by di Siebenthal in historic races. 250 GT Coupé Dark-red Chassis no. 0975, destroyed. 250 GT Cabriolet White/Grey Chassis no. 1753. 365 GTC-4 Dark-Blue Chassis no. 15413, badly crashed and dismantled 246 Dino GT Coupé Light-Blue Chassis/engine no. 04626. 330 GT 2+2 Series 1 Dark-Red Chassis/engine no. 05415. 308 GTS Spider Burned out Completely destroyed, chassis/engine no. 26709. 365 Berlinetta Boxer Burned out Completely destroyed and dismantled, chassis and engine no. 18459. Cegga-Ferrari-Spider - Chassis no. not known. 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider Light-Blue Chassis/engine no. unknown. 275 GTS Spider Light-Blue For sale, needs restoration. 330 GTS Spider Red For sale, needs restoration. 250 GTE Dark Blue metallic Probably for sale. 308 GTB Coupé Silver/Black Right rear slightly damaged. 275 GTS Spider Silver For sale, needs restoration. 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupé Dark-Red USA-Version, Borranis, needs paint, 250 GTE 2 + 2 Green has rust, for sale. 330 GT 2 + 2 Series I Blue metallic Completely destroyed. 330 GTC Coupé Light Blue Crashed front. 365 GT 2 + 2 1969 Silver Roof damaged, dismantled. 246 Dino GT Coupé Black For sale. 206 Dino GT Coupé Red Very bad condition, needs paint and complete restoration. 330 P4 bodywork only Red For sale, after bad restoration. Sold by David Piper many years ago to Pierre de Siebenthal. So his picture labeled 5415 doesn't match the description of Dark-Red. However Nik's picture in the first post is of a dark-red series 1 330 GT. So that one is probably 5415 while Marcel's pictures are of the unknown 4HL car described as Blue metallic and completely destroyed.
By the way, my car is an early series 2 330GT (sn 7919) and it has a similar mirror to the junkyard car. Kerry, didn't you do some research on rear view mirrors? Did you discover any trends? Maybe they will help narrow the range of possible serial numbers for the junkyard car. Regards, Art S. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ill look at my original... but I think there were 2 250GT PFs on the site... Have I posted the dark red one? Nik
Niks photos is from 1979 i was with him. Siebenthal was at Nurnburgring 1979 with his Drogo and 166 ferrari. We have some photos. Best regards! Magnus
there's a green 3330 or 365 GTC in the background too.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Marcel and I exchanged emails on this and he says that the list in the article was not accurate. So the crashed silver-blue 4HL car was 5415. The dark-red one is unknown.
According to the PF body parts manual, the interior mirror changed with the interim model, i.e. ~6911, and then again at ~8279. The earlier mirrors were black wrinkle paint with a map light. The later ones had an polished aluminum back and no light. The last ones also had a rubber piece that stabilized the mirror against the windshield. See http://www.330gt.com/Encyclopedia/Mirror.htm for some pictures.
Between 1978 and 1982 I visited the De Siebenthal scrapyard (located at the time in Lausanne-Prilly, Switzerland) many times and photographed dozens of Ferraris. Here are a few photos showing chassis numbers 012 I (166 SC Barchetta Rebody by Fontana), 00172 (206 Dino GT), 330 GT 2+2s, 0048 M (166 MM Berlinetta Touring Le Mans), 1753 GT (250 GT Cabriolet Series II), 13195 (365 GTB/4 Berlinetta Scaglietti, giallo fly), 15413 (365 GTC/4, Blu Tourbillon), 26709 (308 GTS), several 275 GTB/4s, 330 GTCs, 250 GTE 2+2s, 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupés, and many more. I have onjoyed a lot these pictures. I like very much this type of stories. Who was Pier de Sientebal? is he still alive? I rememer this name about the ferrari 250 gto no chasis 4753 gt? Do you konw if this guy had this gto ?
Chassis 4753 GT is NOT a 250 GTO and has never been. This is a 250 GTE 2+2 Coupé Pininfarina. Pierre De Siebenthal was - as mentioned earlier in this thread - a Swiss scrapyard and small garage owner who occasionally also raced cars, including 250 LM #6119. He is no longer alive and the scrapyard does no longer exist. The cars and remnants have all been sold many years ago and left over engines, bits and pieces found their way to Piet Roelofs in The Netherlands. Marcel Massini
yes,you are right. I wanted to say the chasis no 4153gt. This car was a ferrari 250 gto, this car stayed at Spain between 1966 and 1970. This car won several reces, for example 1966 puigmajor in Mallorca (spain). This car was sold in 1970 in about 2 million of pesetas, more or less 12000 euros. I would like to watch more pictures about the siebenthal´s cars.
No. I am not subscribed,so you don't allow me to post any moore photos. But i can ask BIZ5300 to post some photos. Bets regards! Magnus
What a magnificent collection of exotic junk! Who can identify the remains of what I think is a mid engined car, shown behind the cut off 275 GTB roof/qtrs and in front of the (?) Maserati Indy? I too enjoy the threads of this ilk; when these cars were as disposable (or seemingly so) as a Fiesta. That time machine is going to be awfully busy...
