This is my extremely ghetto mirror I clip on my car to help me back out of weird places… like my garage. It's a bit awkward to back out of my garage, and this helps immensely. After I'm out, I just pull it off and put it under the seat.

Does anyone else do this… or have a less-ghetto solution? I don't think finding a real original passenger side mirror is an option.

Totally ghetto but much less so than a side swiped car. Good solution to your problem and off the car when it matters. Nicely done.

Yep! In fact, this is what happened WITHOUT the mirror a few years ago (which accelerated my time frame for repainting the car back to its original color).

Eventually we'll have the driveway redone and take out the obstructions that make it so awkward to get in and out of, but for now, the ghetto mirror does its job wonderfully.

Keep it that is almost a ‘Monospecchio’ ghetto mirror!

If you can, try backing in, so that you are sitting on the side clostest to the wall - i always found that easier. Of course, then there might not be room to get out, plus you flood the garage with ferrari fumes...

the original mirror is a cromodora astro3. there's one on ebay for only 750$ !!!!!!!! They were also used on some period Fiats, and there are generally mostly decent repros out there, but they may not match the quality of your astoundingly gorgeous GT4.

My driveway is so awkward that it's actually harder to back in! And, sadly, the other problem with backing in is the door that leads into the house. That door opens into the garage, so the closer I park to that wall, the more likely my car is to get hit when someone enters the garage (and I have to park closer to the wall in that case so I could get out of my car).

That mirror on eBay has been for sale for a while now because no one's going to pay that much for it! I have a Cromodora Astro 3 on the drivers side, and I also have a Cromodora Astro 3 that's used on the Fiat. A lot of folks think they're the same… well, they are, other than markings. The mirrors used on the 308 GT4 has the maker markings on the bottom of the housing, whereas the mirrors used on Fiat have the maker markings on the back of the housing. I don't think it was a Ferrari/Fiat thing, but more of a year thing. As in the Fiat mirrors were manufactured later than those used on the Ferrari.

Anyway, the bigger problem (for me) is I have never seen a passenger side mirror for sale. Yes, these mirrors are easily mounted on either side as you can flip it the right direction, however in doing that the maker markings are then exposed on top (for the Ferrari version) and upside down (for the Fiat version). I've only ever seen true legit passenger side mirrors on owners cars, never seen one for sale on its own. I'd be very, very, very interested in finding a legit Cromodora Astro 3 passenger side mirror for the 308 GT4.

    definately a conundrum.

I think my old spare mirror was a knock off, not even branded cromodara.

I mean chris - we could embrace this and take your finely restored car to a new level. I think green and gold would look good. Your mirror stalks aren't even twisted or welded chain. Look at the Elvis spec GT4 with the wire wheels. We could gold dip those. I know of a few shops in here in San Diego that could hook you up!

In all seriousness there are a few vitaloni 30002 sets on ebay now for fiat x19 and 124 that would be great stopgaps.

More of my taste but I think a couple mirrors of Pegasus Racing Supply would also be good temps until you find the unicorn originals. https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/advcat.asp?CategoryID=MIRRORS

I believe that Superformance has original style mirrors for the right side (listed on their website under Body Fittings)

Honestly Chris I think the small round Durant mirrors found on 69 911’s look much nicer on the GT4. They match the side round air intake on the C Pillar perfectly and bring a bit of curve to the very angular design of the GT4. Granted they are not original, but it would allow you to shelve your original drivers mirror, and go on what could be a several year hunt for the passengers side, all while having two period correct functional mirrors. That is on the books. Well, we're actually going to reconfigure the laundry/mud room and have the door swing the other direction. If I park nose in (as I pretty much have too), there's really no danger of the door hitting the car (surprisingly roomy).

@xpensivewino - yeah, the round mirrors look great, and they were stock for Euro cars (at least early models). And that pic you attached, wow, Prugna is one of my favorite colors!

That car was the inspiration for my GT4 vision. Prugna over Cuio interior would be my dream combo.
