cliff's notes on who he is and why i'm retarded for not knowing? did a quick google and got a bunch of cockamamie about billy thorpe and the aztecs...
Gil has an F40 and the F40LM amongst other cars, have yet to meet him but if he's like the rest of the VICs he should be OK...well sort of
Gil was the drummer in Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs.... So my dad reckons. And he also owns a car dealership down in Melb????
Thats interesting, thanks for the info Ash, I guess that explains the search results you were getting
hmm, better not tell my mum or she'll figger out how to use a computer to sign up to fchat and stalk him.
owns a car dealership??????????? ahhahahahahahaha...that's a funny one. He has as many cars as a lot of car dealers, but that's about it. He is also the very lucky owner of my old 512BB...never mind those old F40 thingies...boxers rule!
PETER. I THINK IF WE CHANGE SOME OF THE WAYS, THAT WE RUN TRACK DAYS, THEN YOU MIGHT GET PEOPLE TO BRING OUT THEIR OLDER CARS. REGARDS...GIL
There is a couple of threads further down on this, what era/genre is Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs from? i have never heard of them
I should be shocked, but I'm not. Back in the 60's, 70's and 80's to a certain extent, the aztecs were one of the biggest bands in Australia. Maybe you should go google and put in "Billy Thorpe". And I'll give you my quote to "Schumacher" when I met him. "If I could drive as well as I play drums, then you'd be in trouble" regards...gil ps and of course he gave me a compliment, by saying............. "who are you"
ha ha thats some funny **** You shouldnt be offended particulary as i wasnt even alive in those first 2 decades
I'm not offended. What I meant was that 20 years ago, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs were a house hold name. People would know the Name more than the current Prime minister of the country. It was like, "your one of the Aztecs, I was a Sunbury, here take my daughter, do you want some money, can you sign this etc. etc." I had a run in with the TAX dept, in 1980. I had to go in and have a meeting behind closed doors in the security wing of the TAX dept, and I thought, this is it. The guy comes in the interview room and says, " are you gil matthews", and I said "ah ah ah Yes", and he said " Are you THE gil matthews", and I thought ****, "YES", and then he said..........."I WAS AT SUNBURY", and i knew everything was going to be okay, and it was. so I'm not offended at all, just pointing out that 20 years ago, the name "Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs was a house hold name, and now 20 years later, it's only known by older people, who were around in the 70's and lived throught the drinking, late nights, drugs and woman. regards...gil
I'm also too young to remember them, but I have heard of Thorpe at least The only song I know is 'Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy' or whatever the title was.......stuck in my mind for some reason
I'm a little surprised by that. My mates and I are familiar with Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Skyhooks, Cold Chisel, Sherbert, etc. We've even heard some of the stories associated with Sunbury. Even though we're in our early 20's, we still have some knowledge pertaining to Australian music history. Perhaps the use of some 'older' Australian rock in dance music, such as the new dance version of Australian Crawl's "Reckless" (I think it's called) might alert the younger generation to classic Aussie rock?
owning the LM is as good as being in a rock band. Lots of attention by everyone. As for all that cr@p about the mclaren and the LM at the grand prix. All you have to do is look at the photos. I know which one I'd rather own.............and I do.
