For longer trips that take you away from home is there a go-bag you keep in the car with replacements/spares for things likely to break/blow/happen etc? The tool kit looks pretty capable but are there other things not there that you'd recommend keeping handy based on the cars' propensities or design flaws, etc?

    Thx.

I'm pretty sure a Go-Ped will fit in the luggage comparment. In all honesty I thought about carrying a set of high end wheel straps in case I do need a tow I don't want some clown putting a metal hook on my car.

    1) Compact 3 watt LED flashlight
    2) 2 cans of fix-a-flat
    3) 6" section of 12 guage wire with insulated female spade connectors on each end. Makes a great emergency "jumper" if you have a radiator thermoswitch failure. Or, in the case of one of the two fans failing, allowing you to keep the other one running continuously. I have carried this on each of the trips I organize from Seattle to Vancouver, BC each summer, and I have saved three 308/328 owners with this fix.

On top of the AAA card you need a parts bag, you should always have this in the car, parts like:

    1)Spare fuses
2)Diff. types of bulbs that the car use
3)spare belts like Alt; watter pump, and/or AC belts
    4)electrical tape
5)Points, rotors and condensers, if applicable
    6)maybe a distributor cap
7)Jumper wire about 3" long with male spade connectors on both ends just in case the rad. thermo fan switch fail, you can bypass it
Or if the fuel pump relay quits on you it can be bypass (bridge it)
8)Some vacuum hoses and watter hoses specially if you're going on a long trip
9)Fix A Flat just in case
    10)Reflector and road Flairs
    11) and enough Cash

Some of this stuff are small enough to put together a parts bag. Well at least this is what I would do.

What no main bearings in the tool kit?... LOL.. It always amazed me that ferrari tool kits include the alt/ac belts.. like someone will honestly save them in their "roasting hot" rear bonnet & use them later..or have them 'available' for a shop to install...

Honestly maybe a few connectors, relays.. AAA membership, cash and a cell phone..that's it

Boy am I gonna get flamed!...

Mike, you are absolutely right, of course I'm only suggesting this to those who are mechanically incline,
otherwise yes AAA memebership, cash, and cell phone should do it.

I'm only recommending the parts I mentioned because of my past experience. Been there Done that more than a few times.

Please don't get flamed up, life is too short.:)

Good suggestions. I am mechanically adept so I'm sure most of my trunk space will be occupied with a mini-shop; I just don't know what to expect w.this vehicle yet, ergo my polling you guys! My mechanic mentioned the jumper - will make one up for sure. As for AAA I am boycotting them (refused to help me once on my Duc despite tenured membership).

As for fix-a-flat, I would instead humbly suggest a tire repair kit (rougher and plug insert handles + plug and cement) and this instead: http://www.slime.com/product_111_Power_Sport_Tire_Inflator_(40001).html
Those f-a-f's are messy and temp solutions whereas a properly plugged tire will last you the life of the tire. This Slime pump is the best thing I've found and is very compact and comes with connectors to cover everything from cig lighter to battery tender to 'gator clamps. This pump is very small - about the size of a CD case x a few in. thick - and I carry it under my motorcycle seat; it along w.my plug kit has come in handy more than once.

So the rad switch is on the right side - is that right? And involves one of the white connectors? Just want to be sure about what I'm jumping, should the need arise.

Yes, just jump the two wire together and the fan will come on.

Fiat, Lancia, and VW uses the same rad switch.

Not sure about that, but just to be clear I wasn't suggesting Slime slime, rather the Slime mini pump (used w.a plug kit) so you can get air into the tire.
