any photos of the brakes on the TT cars? there is noway those cars can average 100mph over 1 hour at that track on period solid rotars.
The Festival of Speed and Revival meetings are both invitational...at least one Fchat contributor, is part of the selection panel. There is a willingess to "ship/freight" automotive treasures across the globe to be part of the Revival event....several F Chat contributors amongst them.As with the Monaco Historique, as an entrant, you don't "not show up" and expect to get a future invite. Both Goodwood's have become global, unmissable events - for manufacturers, entrants and enthusiasts.....it's unsurprising why Bobby Rahal is trying to replicate these events Stateside. Until this is achieved, it's no surprise Don Orosco,Charles McCabe,James King and Duncan Dayton amongst many others, incur significant cost to be part of this event.....the UK's third most popular motorsport event, after the British F1 GP and the Festival of Speed. Increased ego...definitely, enhanced technology...undoubtedly,world class event...unmistakably Ed
Because none of their friends would show up to watch them win a lower level, sanctioned, sports car race. They're finally finding a way to bring "Bling" to vintage racing. I guess some people just can't leave well enough alone.... I can't wait to hear the first case of someone hiding nitrous in a frame rail of a swb. Probably already done. George
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not trying to begrudge anyone doing whatever they want with their property just trying to understand what I see and read. I'm a big fan of historic racing here in the States and am considering getting involved myself but some of what I see is a bit off-putting. Thanks again, David
I have a Lola that Mark put a valve stem into the roll bar. Before the start he'd have the crew attach an air line and carefully check the psi with a gauge. Didn't do anything but it did unnerve the competition. I like the FOS and Charles very much and that's one not to be missed. I may bring P 4/5 C next year.
That would be very cool, Jim. I remember seeing P 4/5 there in 2007 (my first trip as a 3-day old Ferrari owner). Would be nice to see her new sister! Onno
Would love to see 0854 and 0846 at the Revival, even if they are only on display in the paddock as 0844 was this year.
The thought crossed my mind, just yesterday!! LOL! "That button? Oh....it opens the Garage Door, at home.."...
Now that's funny. You could have all sorts of fun with that. I'm picturing a mechanic with a bicycle pump attached, pumping up and down furiously, while looking around furtively. George
Not a clear shot but here is the rear brake on the 330LMB. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/kVsANICPtSFQIsSEJI1y_A?feat=directlink
Actually, they got damn close over three hours. http://www.wspr-racing.com/wspr/results/wscc/ms1964.html#13 Onno
Here are a couple of close-ups of the brakes of the 330LMB, from the test day: http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/5047/revtest16910079.jpg http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/5156/revtest16910087.jpg Others will know how original they look............ I don't know what the mechanical failure was that eliminated it - perhaps they just wore it out with too much testing and ptractising............. Paul M
On the TV screens it looked like Verdon-Roe was feeling for play in the left rear wheel, that area of the car took most of the (light) impact in the coming together with the Cobra in the qualifying session. Maybe there was more damage than previously identified underneath. http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/365Daytonafan/GoodwoodRevival2010#5518715148300649858 http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/365Daytonafan/GoodwoodRevival2010#5518715177064052834 http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/365Daytonafan/GoodwoodRevival2010#5518715475599967618 http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/365Daytonafan/GoodwoodRevival2010#5518719052642249314
Nowhere near, but, on my Alfa racecar, I put on an NOS sticker, only a sticker, and.... got protested for Nitrous Oxide! The power of the mind... Regards, Alberto
