Appreciating that there may be some disagreement, which “existing” (both competition and/or road) Ferrari’s are considered the greatest? I’m referring to racing accomplishment, famed ownership, overall provenance, etc. Also, photos and current status of the car(s) would great to see. Thank you.

Aha. Yes of course you're correct. I misread the post as general model listings of his own.

I don't doubt the answers posted so far, particularly from Marcel, though I must admit that I'm surprised. I would have assumed the answers would have been a 250 GTO, or a 250 LM, or a 375 Plus, or a 166 Inter, or one of a multitude of other great Ferrari's, but certainly not some that were mentioned here. Admittedly, I posted this thread because I didn't know the answer, but, I suppose my mind was thinking the typical beauties and not 0888 or 1040. Again, given that people far more knowledgeable that myself say they are, I'm not doubting it, but beauties they certainly aren't (well, at least not to me).

Well, your initial request wasn’t proposed as a beauty contest.

    Exactly.
It said the greatest existing Ferraris with racing accomplishments, famed ownership, overall provenance. No word about "beauty".
0888 is one of the winningest racing Ferraris ever. What's not to like?
1040 has had fabulous names attached: Kirk White, Roger Penske, Mark Donohue. To me these three men are all heroes.
0456 AM: Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini plus the Paris Motor Show. Super famous names in the 50s. A landmark for Ferrari.
Very happy to add 0684 (the 57 MM winning 315 S) and a superb 250 GTO Series II and yes, why not a 312 P Berlinetta 1969 as well?
I am also happy to see that somebody else already suggested 0286 AM, which is one of my personal favourites anyway. Just look at this massive rear wheel and imagine the sheer power.

Funny, I had a feeling I would get a response like this. Again, as I said, I’m not taking issue with the responses, I’m just surprised by them.
