I have been trying to reach them all week. No one answers the phone. Voice mail only but no returned calls. Anyone?? Need a coolant hose for a 246. Rutland doesn't have it. Trying to find it stateside. And on top of that, no answer at Dennis McCann's either. Is this National Dino Parts vacation week??

Got parts from them twice this week. Dave was out sick for 2 days, probably short handed. I left a message and Sandy called me back.

You are irresponsible starting a thread like this about a business.

If I sounded like I was trying to criticize them, then I apoligize. I usually get good service from both of them but this week I was desperately needing a hose I couldn't find. We had left several voicemails but no return calls. Maybe next week will be better.

    Tom,
I've read testimonials here that parts from Superformance have arrived Stateside in five working days from England. I'm not trying to divert your business away from your usual sources. I'm just suggesting an alternate, if you need one. Also, start a new thread with an APB for the specific hose in the title; perhaps someone can 'loan' you one. 'sorry, I don't have any spares.
    Good luck &...
    Cheers,
    Coop

I was just there yesterday. They are not closed. Just the opposite they are swamped, and you sometimes have to have a little patience when they get backed up... especially if Dave was sick. Bill and Dave are the best.

Their new warehouse is spectacular. If you had ever been to the old place it was hard to imagine that they knew what they had there. The new place is right across the road and is way bigger and it seems, much better organized.

Ditto on the comments on the irresponsibility of titling a thread saying a particular business is closed.

Maybe it's the NC thing. Someone posted something a few weeks ago saying how glad he was to be out of AZ and relocated to NC. It's the Seinfeld - Ferrari parts Nazi "NO PARTS FOR YOU!!!" :)

Would second the positive recommendation for Superformance in England - extremely knowledgable and expedient stateside shipping.

it's been known for years that they don't return calls, don't answer the phone, alot of their parts are not Original Ferrari parts, some of it is replica stuff (poorly made) made who knows where, heck, Dave and Bill don't even get along, blah blah blah

i've had on two occassions, had Bill tell me parts were sent out "on there way" (quote unquote) and they NEVER arrived.

i've also had them tell me items were in stock and only got 1/2 the items i ordered.

asking Dave to follow up with Bill is impossible......nobody cares there

maybe if you live in AZ and can drive in and get your parts there's an advantage, put getting anything shipped outside of AZ is VERY unreliable

their place is a total mess from everybody i know who's been there....stack of catalogs on the floor, nothing is organized,,,,guy who boxes the stuff doesn't know what he's doing, where it's going

look at their lousy performances here as proof (hanging up on people, false promises, etc.) :

I second Joe G's statements. Last year I ordered parts for them for my damaged 308, and they were slow to arrive. I would call every so often to see what was going on, and after about 3 calls, Bill was very hostile to me, told me they'll get here when they get here, and just hung up on me. I've never dealt with somebody so rude! I needed the scarce parts they had, so I kept my mouth shut.

I vowed to never use them again, but they do have great prices. I've used them several times since then, but i always speak to Dave. I'll never speak to Bill again...

PS--If a company doesn't answer or return phone calls for a week, then they deserve any bad press they get, including closure rumors!

    Tim, I hear you, but...

We should let these businesses mis-treat us and keep quiet, so we can possibly get parts from them in the future?

    I think not.

There are always other choices. Somebody else with the right attitude will step up to fill the void.

Again, my issue was w/ Bill. Dave has been great w/ me. Great prices, prompt shipping. My complaint is not w/ GT Car Parts per se, but with one person..

I've never ordered from them, never had the need.

But, I don't think you want to silence critics or supporters with the underlying threat of "no parts for you" even if it is VERY REAL.

I've heard good and bad about almost every parts guy out there. Possible exceptions, Dennis McCann and Superformance. Every other one has had a ***** or two about them here or elsewhere.

All the parts places are buyer beware. But at least when we get honest input here we can make informed decisions.

Maybe a tweak of the title of this thread is in order.

I have dealt with GT Car Parts several times from last fall up to last month and they have impressed with their customer service and fast delivery of parts. I was thankful they carried some of these low volume/demand parts I needed. Phone interactions have been prompt and professional.

Greg you are right, to a point. I've bought parts from them (and others) for years. I've experienced the same "adventures" as everyone else. It is important to look at the "Big Picture". You will get better service from someone that likes you. This is basic human nature. Apparently business is good enough that some things "fall through the cracks". Not returning phone calls is irritating but not exactly a rare occurrence in the real world. If you get testy, you may go to the bottom of the list.

Bill, IS GT Car Parts, everyone else works for him.

Usually I get what I've ordered in a timely fashion, no problem with returns (I don't usually need to).

You can buy parts from a variety of sources as not everyone will have everything (I buy more Lamborghini parts than Ferrari, even more rare) but just keep in mind that it's a small world, they all know each other and if you are a PITA to one it may get around. If you are price shopping a part, they will know it. Penny pinchers abound in this business (not surprisingly) and your welcome will wear thin if you have called to get a price but always ordered elsewhere.

One owner, buying parts for one car, that he might own for a short time is a pretty small market. The risk of ticking you off might not be very great.

Tom, I know that the hose is important for you. It just doesn't spell emergency to someone else.

If it's a coolant hose that you need, my first stop is the local parts store to browse the back room. It's amazing how often you can find what you need if you are willing to be a little creative.

if the soup nazi didn't like you, he didn't give you service up front, plain and simple....for whatever his reasons.....he had that right......
that way, you can just go elsewhere......

what these guys do is far worse :
    1. take your order, say they can get something, and then they don't
    2. then, they jerk you around for 6 months
    3. leave you in limbo
    4. and worse off, they do it to "long time loyal customers"...not newbies. virtually everyone complaining is a long time customer, not a newbie (it doesn't feel good to get burned after years....soup nazi would burn you right away....big difference)
    5. jerk you around even more, then you call to see what's up, then they hang up on you
    6. some parts are home made and not as good as OEM (cheap alternatives)

it's a known fact that Dave works for Bill and doesn't like it there because he doesn't get paid "#$%$" (rumor of course).

if Bill is already handling the order, Dave plays dumb and doesn't get involved.

There are other alternatives : www.ricambiamerica.com T Rutland's , Hill Engineering, Lyle Tanner, Dennis McCann,

i understand that it's better "if they like you"....but after awhile you don't care if you're liked, you just want your damn parts, or just tell people you can't do it so they can go elsewhere

    I disagree--I think Joe's right...

Heck, the guy HUNG UP on me! I wasn't being a pest, just wanted an accurate update....

This was March 2006. I'm way over it, just saw this post and had to chime in..

GT Car Parts sent me several things a couple months ago. Prices were fair, shipping was prompt. Very pleased.

In the age of the internet, businesses need to be more careful than ever....

I am a fan of Dennis McCann's. Throughout my restoration '96-'00, he always came through. I have been to GT Car Parts and had success getting parts from them but when it comes to straight shooters with real parts and the honesty to say when things are repos, Dennis is the man IMHO.

So clearly the thing to do is let the guys who have success at GT parts order stuff for those of us who don't. A small premium would be appropriate.

I will say however, that I'm finished my repair/restoration and didn't get any parts at GT, found them all other places.
