Mainly true but the 2010-2012 Schumacher wasn't Schumacher anymore.

Of course but say Lewis was to lose badly to Russell this year no one would accept the: oh he isn’t Lewis anymore. This forum would be happy saying they knew it all along and Lewis was overrated ;)

    Don't think so.
Lewis will remain a great driver, no doubt about this.
His palmares will simply remains disproportionate because of the Mercedes anomaly.

This is one of the most exciting elements this year. Having Russell there lets us really see if Lewis has the stones. Bottas definitely didn't (as much as I was rooting for him.) Nico got his one and done, frankly I don't blame him. I think he knew as well as us, it would always be a 'one and done.'

Goes to show how good Bottas is when he can make the Alfa look competitive

I love Bottas, just think it’s pretty clear Ham is better.

Rosberg is miles better than Bottas.

If Bottas came out of the gate winning multiple opening race like Rosberg, he'd be allowed to race for the title. He simple wasn't able to. The fact that's he's doing much better than a rookie teammate should be expected of him.

BTW, this goes for all situations of number 1 vs number 2 drivers. If Barrichello had out qualified and out raced Schumacher in the opening races, the team would've let him fight for the title.

Perhaps not, but I’m forced to look at it at the top of the thread list every time I visit this forum, despite the fact that everything that can be said has been said.

Naw debate will rage on forever.

I think unless he wins something like another 3-4 championships.

    even then...

Hamilton is very unlikely to win another one, IMO.

He could even have won his last GP, AFAIK.

    Possibly.

Alonso, Vettel, and Hakkinen are examples of great racers who won their final race suddenly, and without warning.

I tend to lean towards Hamilton getting another win or two.

I predicted that Alonso would never win a GP after he left Ferrari.

Not that I doubt his skills, but I can't see him back in a top team ever again.

So far I am right. His last win was in ... 2013 !

I think he will, unfortunately, because he already won a lot more than he deserved...

Today was a good example of how George out drove Hamilton. Not taking away from his achievements, but today, he was a mid pack driver

It's been quite the fall from glory for Ham. If he continues to finish midpack (or lower), especially with Russell outpacing him, I don't see him choosing to return next season. He may very well end up regretting not going "out on top."

Absolutely , sadly many don’t know when to stop.
MS had a strong ending but then… jaques Villeneuve bad, Jean alesi lost himself in bad teams…

Welll...I said it in the last 2 years. Someone seemingly so occupied with his legacy (PR agencies and so on) it would be much, much better to go out on a high. He should've done it end of last year....even had the perfect excuse for it.

It's fine to have a bad race, but he's been consistently matched by PR63 or soundly beaten. P4 and P14, there is just no excuse. Russell even had the wrong front wing settings (for wet, they forgot to adjust it in the pit). Won't be surprised to see Mercedes ''find'' damage or "engine problems" to massage Lewis' ego. Lewis couldn't overtake an Alpha Tauri and even a Williams (!!!) in the whole race. Pathetic performance. Jeddah was also a horrendous race. So far it's not a fall from grace. It's more akin to being pushed off the Rockies...

If it keeps that way it will be a long season for him.
He had 2 even races with George and 2 terrible with bad set up (his fault), strategy, and lack of agressiveness

If he has more of these type of performances in the coming races I can see him quit/announce retirement by the British GP.

Possible… I’m all about fairness to him but the sky coverage today was truly horrific… why speak so much about a guy fighting for 13th… ugh
