From page B28 of the TR WSM: "If head resurfacing is necessary, do not machine below the height value indicated in fig. 23."

Fig. 23 (on page B25): overall thickness (height) of cyl head = 125.20 mm maximum, 125.10 mm minimum

Please post the thickness (height) of your cyl head(s) before machining. I would hope that F targeted the maximum value when they were made as even from that value there isn't much material available to remove. If F targeted the middle nominal value = that could be trouble...

if you have to remove more then you would need a thicker and special headgasket. but remember both sides have to been equal

It does appear that the head may have come from original build with the nominal value . We might be looking for a new head ( right side 1-6 ) Will be doing more measurements from various areas and post thickness values next week . Once again, Thank You !

What happened to the head? Haven’t heard too many folks doing this.

Sorry about that , still making mistakes . Shaved the head through a dumb choice and now in the process of having someone more competent than myself to fix it . Live and learn… still learning . Thank you for all the wise input !

Before machining , the thickness ( height) is 4.905” / 124.6mm . Considering a Clark Copper racing gasket to make up the .020”/ .5mm needed to get to 4.925”/ 125.1mm
    Any thoughts ? Cheers !

We can manufacture a set of purpose built 2mm thick gaskets for you to suit the TR. Normal thickness is 1.5mm. This may give enough height to get clearance.
if this helps let me know.

Prior to reassembly be sure there is not a cam bearing alignment issue.
