Hi I am needing to replace my 355 2,7 headers and was wondering what sort of job time it might take with engine in ? Anyone done it ?

Swapped mine last month for new tubular ones with the engine in. Took about 2-3 hours. But if you are new to working on your car, give your self 4 hours or so.

I see this all the time on car forums. "An oil change takes me 6 minutes" or "I swapped out my truck's suspension on all 4 corners in an hour"

Mate, if that ****s having a go at me then dont.
I have owned my 355 for 15 years and know it inside out and have done everything to it from rebuilding the engine to things like changing all tbe bushes like i did last month, i do everything on it.
I just answerd the question in an honest way as to how long it took me.
I posted a thread of the manifolds that i bought from superformance last month.
So if i say it took me 2-3 hours to do my manifolds ,why the hell should i lie?
I have vast experience with my own car and have taken out manifolds on 355s many times.
So dont for one minute try to imply that i am making **** up. You dont know me or what i do.

    Relax William.
Nobody is specifically saying you made anything up. I think he is just making a general comment that people post stuff on line without any experience all the times. I too can replace both headers in 3-4 hours but if someone has to ask, it means he has not done it before and that means it will take 2x the amount of time you or I can do it.
So, relax, it's a Friday, chill out with a beer.

By the way, tubular headers without skin is much much easier to install than the stock ones.

Make sure your flanges are flat on them headers before you tear apart your car.

The flanges that connect to the engine? Or the flanges that connect to the cats? Could you post a picture? I'd like to know what to look for once I buy the Tubi headers down the line.

If the flanges to the exhaust ports are not aligned, send them back. This is not your problem.

It obviously depends on your skill and facilities.

Before we got a lift in the garage, we did these on my 95 on jack stands. It took us about 6 hours I think or maybe less than one day. It's been a while. We weren't in a hurry and can't claim to be experts.

If the flanges that go up againsts the heads are not flat they are warped from heat.

Take them to a machine shop and have them trued up. Or send em back.

I just saw that Braden had an issue with some brand new tubis headers it's why I said to check them out. Could double check what they did to true them up.

I ordered Tubi headers and test pipes for my 95 and the test pipes were welded wrong. Tubi did the right thing and sent out a new pair immediately.
