Well... my 328 was involved in an accident.. some guy ran a red light and crashed into me. Was a write off. I did get a very reasonable settlement from the insurance company. With the monies I bought a 1994 Nsx (wonderful car) and a Lexus rx350 for my wife.
I have been Ferrari less for a couple of years. Have not been visiting the forum as it makes me sad..

Drove the 230km home, car ran fine. Only hiccup was at the border on the Canadian side, the officer tried to charge me duty (6.1%). But I had done my research and knew cars over 25 years old are duty exempt - I was eventually able to find the tariff number 9966.00.00 with And the memorandum d10-15-20

To new owners: First of all congratulations again and welcome, beautiful car. The new experience is described very well by Jeff Bloom’s line in Jurassic Park “at first everybody goes oooo and ahhh then the screaming starts”
Hopefully you don’t have too many of the later.

I took a tool kit and battery booster but didn't take a fire extinguisher. I have a few of those new solid stick type extinguishers should have taken it.
I did smell some gas and did look under the car at a rest stop (the banjo at the fuel pump can come loose), but didn't see anything and thought the smell was due to this car not having cats...
    I'm pretty lucky me thinks.

As suspected it was a banjo fitting to one of the carbs. (driver's side rear - the line that comes form the passenger side to driver's side carb). Simple fix but there isn't much space, was just able to lift the air filter housing up enough to get the 17mm wrench on it. Looks like you might even need to take the engine cover off just to get the air filter out??

I don't understand well your prior message. I understood that the car was "definitely off" after the accident.

where did I say it was 'definitely off'?
I said it was a 'write off' which means it was deemed non repairable, would cost more than value to try to repair, so the insurance company pays out what they think the value of the car is.

Write off is the same thing as total loss here in the US

Only problem was ICBC's (provincial insurance company) software would not recognize the 5 digit vin (too short). Once that was over ridden by the agent making a phone call, we got another 'error' - apparently there's another car in BC with the same vin number which was reported stolen. Fortunately it seems it is a different car/model. Took a long time for them to figure this out through the DMV. But this means every time I renew the insurance, the insurance agent will have to call in and physically look at the vin plate. :(
